I really don't think they spent much time on r&d refining the product with sound and performance in mind.. hence the cheap price.
Why do I say that?.. As soon as I swapped out the Megan Cat Back to a Borla Atak I noticed the car running better and it seems the top end is a tad bit stronger. Not night and day but enough for me to think the Megan is not a good solution for M3 and could have actually been hindering performance a bit. The Borla sounds night and day better also. I would guess 95% of catbacks available are better sounding than Megan on M3.

this is muscle?

This is also literally the same exact thing as agency power which is 3x the cost. Made in same factory on same line.

Not as muscle car sounding without cats.. definetly better but not what I was after though.

Have you heard any other exhausts without cats? How about Borla Atak
without cats?

yeah I have, someone local actually has it on an e92m3. It sounds good, but is maybe half as loud as mine and MUCH deeper. I definitely don't think any of them sound "bad" at all but there are surely different tones. I mean its kinda difficult to make an s65 sound bad if we are honest... I for one love the raspy exotic sound, where some others may not. My only real point is its not crappy. I am ALL for paying for something if it is truly better, but at then end of the day most of the exhaust systems are the same bent tubing.... i just cannot fathom there is truly thousands of dollars better systems. It is just unrealistic. Without deleting primary cats you are not really gonna gain much at all. Shed weight sure, sound different yeah.

In my local group and friends we have everything from megan to akra titanium. Aside from akra its really just looks, name, and sound.

with megan and stock everything else it was barely noticeable sound wise to me, but it did shed weight.

I agree with a lot of your points. Well said. Although I think I have heard one or two people on YouTube that actually managed to f_ck up their exhaust enough to make a S65 sound bad. It's not an easy thing to do

I've got the Megan cat back on e90. No drone. Sounds good but definitely not as nice as some others. It was cheap, cut some weight, and sounds better than stock. I'm happy.

First off guys, the video is not mine...although my car sounds just like it. For Rev1, the Megan doesn't sound like a muscle car at all. I know what a muscle car sounds like and it sounds nothing like that. In fact with the test pipes it sounds darn near exotic. Like I said, I will take the pepsi challenge anyday of the week. I know people with much more expensive exhausts that like the Megan better.

I've owned at least 10 muscle cars, with engines 283, 302, 327, 350, 383, 455 and 502 Chevy stroked. The Megan with cats reminded me of a lot of some of those. Not exotic at all IMO. I did have cats on with Megan though so it had a lot of low end rumble with zero exotic pitch. Pretty much anything s65 will sound good with Test pipes or x-pipe. IF you like Megan that's great because it's priced right. I'm not a fan.

You can actually change out tips as well on your OEM setup for an asthetic change.
Going to have to disagree there. The Megan, especially with testpipes, sounds MUCH better than the oem mod (which sounds like a raspy mess to me).

OP, yay from me; it's a solid exhaust for sure.

Amazing how many different responses you get. Opinions really are like assholes I purchased my megan system from thmotorsports.com . They had the best price on the smoked tip system. I was thoroughly impressed with this exhaust, especially for the price. It's a great combo of just a little v8 muscle car with a whole lot of exotic on top. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it sounds a lot like the f430 I drove last month at an event in Charlotte. I know that'll make people laugh but it's the truth.

Compared to stock, the idle has a little more bass to it, but not overpowering, then its relatively tame until you hammer it. At that point it just screams. Sounds great inside the car. There is just a touch of drone around 2k but I drive 30 hwy miles a day and don't notice it at all.

Fit and finish is great, no problems on the install, tips tuck in perfectly, and everything is straight. The fact that I was able to get this system for less than $600 is the icing on the cake.

Your video gave me shivers down my spine

I've already got an ACM modded back box, I'm trying to avoid doing test pipes because driving without primarys where I live is a pain and I don't really want to have get a tune. Not doing this for performance, I want more noise. I used to run an RS4 Avant with un resonated miltek, and although the M3 is better in most ways, I miss that proper grumbley V8 sound and howl
literally what it means...

I will say this, I did have a little bit of a fitment issue in which the driver side tip was a tad lower than the passenger side. Nothing that a muffler shop couldn't fix during the install.

Guess I got lucky, looks like a few people had some fitment issues. Mine bolted up perfectly, which I'm thankful for as it was no fun laying on my back trying to get it all lined up.

I'm going to guess you drove it around with the windows up where the more exotic tones are deadened. Take it from a E93 owner, the Megan had a LOT of exotic notes, especially up top. Raspy exhausts != exotic notes. The Megan sounds smooth with a baritone, mellow sound; there's nothing muscle-car like about it. It makes it hard to take your statement seriously about all the GM motors that you owned.

Exhaust sounds, whether it's exotic or muscular, are all a matter of preference. Some like a raspy sound, others don't. I'm probably leaning toward getting this setup as I have heard it on another owners car.

I have the Megan with titianium tips with test pipes, I love it. It's loud and great and turns heads. To each his own but I would go with it. 1.) can't beat the price for a great product 2.) looks great 3.) great weight cut 4.) the sound, I know a lot of people that spent 1-2 K on theirs and when I got mine they were jealous about the sound.
