BMC Air Filter - Initial Thoughts

Just received my filter from Joe @ Trinity Autosport. Great customer service, which got this little mod off to a great start.

Install was simple with one little concern - the filter doesn't seem to be 100% flush with the intake manifold. Curious to hear if others with this filter noticed the same thing. It doesn't appear to be an issue, as the car runs smoothly post-install.

The sound is great. The difference isn't earth shattering, but it is noticeable and it's beautiful. I planned to go for a short drive around the neighborhood, but ended up driving for over an hour.

The placebo effect is strong here. While I doubt there are any noticeable power gains, the sound tries to convince you otherwise. The filter I replaced was also quite dirty (even with less than 7,000 miles), which very well may account for a slight performance increase.

So far, I'm very pleased. I'll share more over the next week or so, as well as post some photos. Need to finish detailing the engine bay first

By not being flush is there a gap that unfiltered air can get in? I am not familiar with the setup.

Forgive the poor quality photos and the dust, but you should be able to see how the filter sits flush in the top of the photos and pokes out slightly at the bottom.

I don't believe there are any gaps, but I expected a better fit.

My curiosity got the better of me. Looked it up. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but definitely not cheap.

How do you like it?

Not sure it did anything but it looks cool sitting in the carbon fibre intake.

Maybe some sound...more hisssssss as the turbos spool.

I'm at 30psi midrange and not sure the stock intake was restrictive at all.

Just pulled the trigger on this after reading forums.

Anyone know if NYS emissions will pass?
For some reason the manuf. says off-road and race use only??

I can't imagine them caring about a drop-in filter.

Probably because they don't filter all that well.
