I wish it was a simple as taking an oil analysis and showing it BWM when the levels are high, but BMW doesn't car until it's blown. And if you're out of warranty, better go get a lawyer.

With so much focus on bearing wear it is hard to know just how much of an issue it is.
I renew my BMW warranty every year and if the engine lets go then they can fix it.
I'm not sure I would want to keep my car long term without a warranty when it is so pricey to replace the engine and the DCT.

mine is in right now for the mysterious "tick" they thought it was the flywheel at first so they replaced it and the noise was still preset... shocker... anyways, now they say they are putting the original flywheel back in to continue diagnosing it. I own a M3 but have been paying to drive their POS 320i for the last 3 weeks.... I'm about to blow a gasket.. no pun intended. oh and I'm out of warranty by about 9 months and the car has 50,371 miles when i dropped it off.... 3 weeks ago.

Your case is just as if not more ridiculous than the case that the OP of this thread had, you should contact that lawyer, you definitely have a case just like he did.

I know how that feels. My car was in the shop for 7 weeks while I was puttering around in a POS loaner 320xi. Living in WI, 7 weeks is a good chunk out of my M3 driving season so I was pretty pissed about it. Those 320's are such garbage too...

complete POS! I went back on Tuesday to get them the service records and they changed me out to a 328... still a pos but not as much of one...

That is the "poor design" in all of this.
I firmly believe that OCIs 3-5k mitigate this....

I change mine every 3,000 miles. 4,000 miles maximum. At 10,000-15,000 miles per oil change they have a higher chance of making money off of you after the warranty goes out.
