Custom Clevite Rod Bearings

Has anyone had issues with the stock bolts stretching or failing? If not, apr is inherently more risky than stock, as you can't improve on perfect.

That was one of the deciding factors for me in staying stock on the s54's and s62's. Apr has an extremely good reputation, but nothing trumps flawless performance.

Improve on perfect...? Im pretty sure this engine has shown itself to be far far from that. The ARP bolts are made from a higher quality material as well as being reusable, absolutely no reason not to use them when you change out our bearings unless your that strapped for cash.

Talking specifically about the bolts. Has anyone had issues with the stock bolts?

Got the ARP2000 bolts ready, just need the Clevite bearings.

There will be a "this is what I am going to run" oil recommendation but that is it. Most people will probably stick to Edge Professional and that is fine. After all the tight clearance bearings run it anyway. It will be left up to the end user just like it is now with many folks running 0w-40.
I am sure you folks understand our stance on that just because if we say one HAS to run a certain oil other than the factory fill and IF something were to happen some will immediately point fingers and blame to the oil and ultimately us.

My choice would be either Gibbs DT40 5W-40 or Amsoil European Full Saps 5W-40.

Well done. Are there over-sized bearings available for engines needing the crank reground due to spun bearings? I know BMW stopped selling these.

There is not enough data to suggest that anything is better or worse than TWS. If you are under warranty I would stick with TWS.

Like Chris said above, if you're under warranty I would stick with TWS so that you cannot be blamed if/when the bearings die.

Based upon my experience with other engines running these clearances, a little bit lighter oil is going to help - the idea is that from a flow standpoint, you're going to move more oil through the bearings when using the 5W-40, if it were my own motor that is what I would use.
