Autocrossing the F80

I've had the F80 out twice now with the local BMWCCA at their monthly autocrosses. The good news, even I can beat the Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes and last week a C63 AMG Coupe. The bad news, my talent hasn't caught up with the cars capabilities. Actually the thing that is costing me the most time is failing to understand how good the brakes are, I'm constantly braking too soon and find myself just coasting before a turn.

That was my fastest run at 46.2 s., that is completely stock, dynamic mode. I tried one run with DSC completely off and it wasn't pretty, just a matter of too much torque and not enough talent. But the car is so good that a barely adequate driver like me can stay in spitting distance of the top drivers in the E9x M3's. I'm burning through the front MPSS tires at a pretty good clip so just a couple of more months and I'll go to a more autocross friendly tire, although I haven't decided what that will be yet.

If anyone has helpful hints on tire pressures etc. please pass them along.

The F80 is front camber limited. Until someone develops camber plates we're going to continue to kill front tires.

I found in autocross to leave the throttle in sport.

I'll be moving the 19"s with AD08's from my E92 to my F80. The MPSS's from my experience aren't great if you're getting faster on track and are limited if you've got strong pads with a lot of bite.

Nice video! Do you have a picture/link to the aerial view of the track?

How much camber does f80 get stock? Does it have pins or other limiters that can be pulled, or is similar to f3x with no adjustment?
