Wait a second, you have an aftermarket warranty and you decided to just replace the motor yourself? Or did they find out that you had a tune and wouldn't warranty the motor because of it? These facts don't seem to match up. If I had an aftermarket warranty, and they were giving me the run around, I would have ponied up for a lawyer. 15 grand is a lot of coin to just "give in" for

[QUOTE=MilehighM3;16737628]Eventually the bearing failure could, if beaten on hard enough after spinning. Say if someone wanted a new engine so they went out for an Italian tune up knowing at least one bearing had spun. Not saying that's what happened here, but there was a camera mounted externally.[/QU
I'm not too sure why you would even think that? Most M3 owners that I know own a goPro or 2 and love to capture there daily adventures. Also I did mention that I paid out of pocket to fix my car so that alone shouldve allowed you to rethink your thoughts b4 posting. Also why would I record myself doing exactly what any warranty/insurance company want to see to deny a claim. Last edited by Sid3waze; 10-06-2014 at 08:42 PM.. |

I must admit, I didn't think this was done intentionally at first. I'm still not convinced that it was. But, who names a thread "There She Goes" when their engine blows? That in and of itself sounds a bit like a problem you were anticipating.

While most people would be mad and stress themselves over a situation like this I don't. I could've named the thread "F bmw m3" but at the end of the day my car that I do love is fixed, I'm not in financial ruins because of this, and I am living. Shit happens and "there she goes" was just my way of adding a little humor to a shitty situation.

You would have heard a huge knocking sound and immediate loss in engine power if you spun a bearing, and not a rod thru the block. This is probably not all rod bearing failure.

Seems like your car couldnt keep up with your friends, what kind of cars they running..
Dont pay attention to the morons in here.. If your really wanted to finish of the motor it would gave been very stupid to record you doing so at 125 mph.. I have a feeling warranty companies may have a hidden clause about excessive speeds causing failures And why they hell would someone just give up and pay 15 grand after only 3 months if you were that desperate in the first place to get the warranty to foot the bill |

All I was saying here is this is not a bearing failure...It is a Rod or a rod bolt failure. If it was a bearing failure 1st it would have been knocking very very hard. Then over time you might have gotten the rod hot enough that it broke. This is very unlikely it's a bearing issue.

1. Do you have mods, tunes etc on your car? Comment: I have always thought that the warranty companies are not going to roll over and say: here is your new engine! Figured you had to fight for it and who wants to deal with that? Engine failures are becoming a weekly event just on this forum. This is happening too often to be only 1% of the motors. Who wants to deal with engine failure in a car that costs so much? M1 or TWS speculation, blackstone reports that you do yearly that apparently dont work for 2011+, warranties that don't want to pay up, this is getting ridiculous. Blown engines every week...this is an expensive toy that should have some kind of reliability since we paid so much. This is like the Z06, valve train nightmare, everyone was saying at first its a small amount of the population blah blah. Now you go on their forum and everyone recommends you have your valves and valve guides replaced. This sucks...sorry guys just venting, but everytime I start to feel comfortable someone else blows up their engine. ![]() Last edited by Sinful; 10-07-2014 at 09:58 AM.. |
