Question Is your M3's clock consistently slow?

I have to adjust the time in my M3 constantly. It's been anywhere from 10-to-30 minutes slow in relation to my iPhone and it must be adjusted every couple of days. Slightly irritating. What's the deal? Is the battery on its way out?

Yep...its usually a sign of a failing battery.
You can try using a battery tender to see if you can extend the batteries life.

my clock became consistently slow a few weeks before the battery totally gave out. if you still have the original battery from 2008 then you will need a new one soon.

Thanks fellas. I also get a battery light if I leave the key in the ignition for 2-3 minutes before starting the car. Makes for a good excuse to take the car in I guess, need an oil change anyway...

I stretched my 335 battery out through another 2.5 years after the first warning signs like this. including two UK winters and weekend only driving. qtek charger once a year in the last few years is all it took.

Yup, that's battery low
I drove my car daily (meaning battery is charged fairly well) and still got delayed time on I drive display.
Dealer changed to a new battery after asking them and showing them the issue twice.

Wise??

Maybe I am different, but if I know my battery is on its last leg, I would change it. By waiting / tricklecharging, etc, you may buy more time, delay spending some money, but you are putting yourself at risk of it failing at a very inopportune time.

Yep, $500 is roughly what I was quoted. I think that's the standard minimum for any repair on an M-car. Already set up an appointment to have it replaced on the 6th. So far, this car's on the same track as my AMG was...drive it a month, repair something...drive another month, replace something else. It'll probably throw a rod next month, can't wait

Yep, my local Bavarian tuner shop said they would register the battery for free if I changed it myself sometime. Just drop in...

There's really no need to spend $500 on a battery change. The OEM battery at online parts stores (Eg BMW of Morristown) is under $200.

you can get the battery for $150 or so. replace it as a DIY. then register at an indy or even do it yourself too if you have a coding cable
