no, it's my first time using M1 on the M3. I want to run a oil sample test in 5 months before committing to this magical elixir everyone is talking about. If it all works out, I will buy them out...the shelf of M1 that is.

I was just at the Mountain View Walmart (near Palo Alto) this past weekend. I didn't check for motor oil as I didn't need any.

I wish they had a listing of oil in stock though. I've been to a Walmart to find the oil I'm looking for cleaned out.

As for Walmarts close by... Oakland and Mountain View are the closest. I don't like dealing with the Bay Bridge traffic so Mountain View is usually the one I go to.

on a side note, if you order online and pick up at store you can save yourself even more money with deal websites like shopdiscover or ebates.com. I got 5% cash back on my purchase. Yeah I know, big whoop...but it all adds up over time that extra $2.30 cash back from M1 purchase, I bought me and my wife some soft-serve at McDonald's in that Walmart! lol. (seriously, we couldn't resist, put on wife beaters and cigarette smoke, and bought soft serve at the McD's in Fremont Walmart, what a weekend!)

I tracked the RL 10-40. Hard. Temps and pressures were similar to TWS, perhaps slightly cooler. Max was 110-115'C

Oil held up well, burnt thru a litre (normal for my car on a track session). Also got a PB lap time.

Californian rednecks? You have those? I'm sure they still don't compare to the South Carolinians. There's a hair cutting place right at the entrance of the Walmart I go to to get the M1. It's a sight to behold

You should also see some of the hoopties in the Walmart parking lot. There's a good reason I rarely drive my E92 there.

well I use to live in Virginia...so it's about the same. You're lucky you can get your 2 jugs of M1, buy some McDonald's soft serve, AND get a mullet haircut in one location. Out-the-door for less than $53!

I just dropped by the Fremont Walmart yesterday evening... They had 0w40 in stock. I didn't buy any as I don't need any for a while.

The online price looks a bit lower than in-store. I may have to do that. Order and go pick up in store. I showed up in Mountain View one time, they didn't have the big jugs of 0w40 and I cleaned out all their single quart bottles of 0w40. (10 bottles). It was expensive but not as much as if you bought it at a regular auto parts store.

Yeah I suspect so. I think for my build it's all much of a muchness.

I did ask the engine builders though and they said 10-40 for me and no to 0-40, because it will apparently still offer slightly higher protection and viscosity at over 100'C temps - and also we don't get subzero temps.

I actually purchased more oil today as I needed a top off and the shop had a 40% off sale. This time Penrite Racing 10 (10-40) ester blend similar to redline so I got some jugs for next oil change.

Read a review recently that rated Penrite and local specialists love it

The Vi also helps, I have stated this before 10-40 is kind of a red headed step child because the modifiers in it actually make it worse than the 5-40. It is thicker cold and thinner hot. Not what we want.

Wow, that's really interesting! I used to work in 850 Cherry and 901 Cherry (Youtube). Both of the buildings are owned by Gap and leased to Walmart and Google. I was there when they were Gap offices.

If you want to play the safe game because of the S/C run 5 or 6 qt of 0-40 and the rest 15-50. I have made this recommendation to a few other S/C guys on here and they have been running it for well over a year with great results.
