Exhaust Hanger Options

[M3-S65]

Couple of questions:

1. Anyone using different hangers than the OEM ones that are the same dimension and work well in general? ( talking about the 2 red ones located at the very rear)

2. Anyone know the part number for the OEM red ones, and where to buy them online?...I searched and no one seems to have them...

3. I have a diffuser so clearance is sometimes an issue...
Anyone had success with a brand that physically brought the tips a bit lower ?

but i read that you can add spacers to lower the exhaust
i'm not sure about the specifics so someone else please jump in

I believe you are referring to people using washers to on the Megan's exhaust. Could be something else as well but I do know people have done that.

I am running poly hangers in place of the red ones on the diff. They will also work on the rear inner muffler hangers also as they are the same

Same dimensions as the stock ones? Or are they shorter/longer?

The 'OEM' replacement options listed online are all rubber at $22+/ea

I'm sorry but that's just a lot. Rubber exhaust hangers are $3. More of a principle thing than being affordable.

But does anybody know the length between the holes? I can't get to my car right now or I would just measure. I found one website that offered a replacement with description of 10mm holes 48mm apart.

I may just go with that and see what local auto parts store has close to those measurements.

Note, that is a polyurethane replacement, OEM BMW pieces are described as rubber.

I am getting ready to install a rear diffuser and have similar issues! Initial thought was to use washers/spacers but will follow this for a better solution.

The hanger in the rear is attached to the body with to nuts to threads. If you put washers or some plastic space you should be able to lower it enough

Link below shows many options fro walker. 40 mm is a bit over 1.5 inches. Not sure if the tear drop shape of the OEM is critical, but may give more room by the differential.

35029 is close, but holes are 0.25" vs 0.375" (closer to 10 mm).

The powerflex I saw specced for E90/E92 M3 (image above) indicates 48 mm which is just under 2”. I’m mostly hoping to confirm those dimensions first.

The powerflex ones are a perfect fit. The teardrop shape is not important, it's not close to anything down there.

What's important is the construction. The stock rubber bushes have metal wire reinforcement built in. The Powerflex has a metal strap built in. If you're using just a pure rubber one it may not last.

Apologies I didn’t notice you had changed the red hangers as well in that thread. Is there a US distributor, or where did you get them?

I bought mine from UK just cos it was closer to me (I'm in Malaysia). I'm pretty sure there are sellers in the US.

Sorry my bad on misreading the dimension, there were other insulators that were longer. But most had larger holes. Most local auto parts stores will carry Walker components as they are on of the primary aftermarket exhaust suppliers.

I will get the Powerflex pieces too. One can definitely order directly from Powerflex, but other vendors list them for less, but try to gouge on shipping.
