Nothing wrong with Nannies-off, just treat your first session as a warm up lap or run with a lower run group. It's all about really learning the difference between DSC-off and DSC-on. Also if running with DSC-on, watch for the light on your dash gauge as your are probably driving beyond your limit if it's coming on too much (It's a cheap/free instructor. Never a bad idea). The biggest error most E92 owners make is we try to drive our car like it weighs 3000lbs (it doesn't). Earlier this year at skip barber, I went flat out through T6's dip in a spec Miata without DSC which I would dare do for a while in our car. Imaging yourself driving in the rain, even though it's dry is a great start. Remember, the weight transfer everyone is talking about is worse as the car gets heavier. |

Car: E92 M3 DCT
Track: Sebring International Raceway, FL (SEB) Best lap: 2:32.778 with AIM SOLO-DL Brakes: ST-40 Front with Cobalt XR1, Stock Rear with Cobalt XR3 Suspension: Stock EDC (Swift Springs) and Dinan Camber Plates -> -2.5 Camber Tires: 275/35/18 NT-01 Square ------ About two seconds faster this time around, could've done better but had to cut my day short and go home (nothing car related). I know there's a 2:30 flat in there somewhere, just need to find it . Video

Cobalts were great, awesome torque, and really not as hard to modulate as I've heard. I was pretty much outbreaking cars with much wider and stickier tires, could also be driver based, but I really like them. They have a very strong initial bite, and keep grabbing all the way through. I'm a fan of aggressive pads, so others may vary.

Car: 2013 E92 M3 DCT, ZCP, EDC
Track: VIR Full Best lap: 2:11.17 with Harry's Lap Timer and Dual XGPS150 @ 4Hz (and GoPoint BT1 for the OBD data) Brakes: StopTech BBK ST60F/ST40R with Pagid RS29 Suspension: Stock EDC (Swift Spec-R Springs) -> -1.9 Camber F / -1.7 R Tires: 275/35/18 NT-01 Square Other: AA Exhaust, MS Drop-In, ESS Tune Gone this year: Dinan static camber plates, AA HFC X-Pipe First day out on newly paved surface so running with Euro-MDM on. Track is quick! You can carry so much more speed through turns 1-4 and around oak tree. This time was 2 seconds better than my best time last year. I'm sure once track rubbers up some it will get even faster. Also, first track day with the new BBK.... and holy shit... they kick some ass. I knew they would be good, but they were even better than I expected. So consistent and predictable. Love em. This surely helped me be faster than year as well. Video: |

Definitely. Track had just opened the week before so it was a little weird, some corners had more grip than last year and some had less. With some sections widened up to 5-6 feet or so, it changed braking points, turn-ins and apexes quite a bit so it took a couple sessions to adjust to it. Since i took my camber plates out for this year, I had quite a bit of understeer in slow corners which slowed me down some. So with a little more age and grip in the surface, plus your tires and plates, I think you will be under 2:10 for sure this year.

How do you like your Ohlins on the track? Do you recommend RD sways in combination with ohlins? I just got Ohlins RT installed and will be testing it soon on the track. Any preferred settings track/srtreet? |

I can't recommend (or not recommend) the RD Sport sways since I've had them on the car for so long. But I can say that the car feels really great to me with the setup as a whole.

I don't think my driving is at the point where small changes like that will make a big difference.

First time at Thunderhill. Nice track----although the Bypass is very hard on the car if you're trying to go fast. The off-camber landing is not a fun experience in a heavy car.
E90 M3 Track/course: Thunderhill w/Bypass Best Lap Time: 2:00.98 Brakes: AP Racing - Cobalt Friction XR2 front/XR3 rear Tires: Hankook TD - 295/30/18 square on Apex Arc-8 10.5" Suspension: JRZ RS Pro Other mods: VF620, Akrapovic X-Pipe with stock exhaust, (no aero parts), Euro-MDM on ( ) I think with a little more line work and understanding exit speeds, going sub-2:00 should be very doable. I only had one day there, so I'm happy with this result. Unfortunately, it's almost 500 miles from me so I won't be getting back there for awhile. The track was buzzing because the new 2-mile section is now fully paved and will be opening I think this weekend. |
