anyone ever camp at laguna seca??????

ok so because of the season most national forest camp sites are closed...probably as during this time of the season we have snow...but this year thats not the case but the forestry service still does not change their availability....as im sure they might be doing maint etc....

so with that said i was thinking of heading to lagna seca...everytime im leaving the track i notice people camping in some of the upper sites....now i wont be on the track for this weekend but cant think of anything better then loading up the RV and camping out at laguna watching skip barber or some other HPDE events with a beer in my hand...not sure if the wife would be ok but wanted to check and see if any of you guys have camped there and wondered what it was like...thank you in advance

Although I have never camped there, I live next door and have spent quite a bit of time around the facility. HPDEs, races, gun range, etc. The campsites are fairly straightforward with fire pits, hookups, bathrooms, etc. I am glad to answer any other questions.

im sure they lock the front gate...so with that said what times do they open and close the gates for campers....we would be a late arrival do to my work schedule and we might head down to canary row Saturday night and might be returning late...not sure if you could answer this but just throwing it out there...how busy do the camp sites get when there are no processional races going on? thank you in advace

this trip im just going to kick back...get away from the grind...take the wife and dogs.....there is alot to do in monterey plus couldn't think of anything better then camping at my favorite track in the world....

Cool. I'm planning to go in July if im allowed to spend more than 1k on a track weekend by my wife. Maybe should have gotten married after laguna seca track day lol.

well between track insurance, food, gas and hotel its not hard to do

well its about 3 for me...but 5 hrs would suck...esp since im there 3-5 times a year non including when i go to watch professional races

I may do that. Was thinking with speed ventures which i think is $400+.

Maybe i can use the instruction being it will be my first time there as well.

To my knowledge they cannot shut any gates to access the main entrance to the camping area. Perhaps due to fire safety? There are gates that are closed periodically during major events. The camp sites are not busy at all outside of these events.
