Do any of you guys race competitively or is this all just for HPDE. It seems a little crazy. Competing againsst times is what scares me in HPDE days as guys become reckless chasing numbers on what's supposed to be DE

I do not race. Chasing times is not inherently dangerous and doesn't necessarily make one drive recklessly. Its all about the person behind the wheel and the decisions they make.

Sounds like betwenn bigjae and 1MOREMOD it's personal

My goal at HPDE to learn consistency, damn Imwant to hit that apex at the same spot EVERY single lap and keep my old bad habits from coming back. Fun fun fun is the name of the game, and great peeps we meet at these events.

Its always fun to pass those peeps you meet also. Never met bigjae although he has been very helpful with various aspects of my driving. Its tough to listen to most people on here because frankly a lot aren't very good.

Totally. With tha said. COTA is a big track like spring mountain motorsport here in vegas, time to get oriented and print out a map, check out BilliJ run on motoiq so I can have some fun and not waste the whole day figuring out where I'm going. Guess I'll just have but Bigjae over and over till I get the rhythm of the track.

For the most part I'm pretty passive unless I see a ///Miata coming up behind me or I see a buddy in front of me.

If I saw 1MOREMOD on the other side of the track...better believe I'm cutting across the grass, around the tires, and between the corner worker stations to teach his candy ass a lesson!

But yeah...just talking trash with your friends is the best part.

I disagree with BillyJ braking comments on his write up of COTA. He is suggesting too much braking.

I just want to find the white M3 from last year's COTA event that posted on YouTube that he was chasing down a white 997.2 GT3. He cheated every corner in the esses and even listed his lap times as like 3:00, 2:54 and 2:49. I want him to try to catch me. That GT3 was not running fast.

One time I did go through the esses without even really turning the steering wheel. Then T6 comes up pretty quick...much quicker than I expected.

There was a AW E92 at the MVP event that was moving out. I think the guys name was Dale? I believe he was running around 2:30 lap times.

I spent the last few years trying to be competitive. Chasing $2 trophies, beer steins, and coffee mugs. It's a lot of time and money for not a lot of return. I had a pretty good system when I was running Time Trials with NASA. Instruct so I could run TT for free. We had a full class and I would usually finish top 3 and take home between 2-4 hoho's and some brake pads. Shit breaks though and everyone keeps pushing the envelope. $2k 5.5in clutches, more aero, etc, etc, etc... I think I'm done being competitive for a while. I'm just chasing the DE cup now

I normally watch some videos and go over a 'perfect' lap in my mind. I try to get as detailed as possible as I'm going over the lap in my head. For example, what gear I'm in and wear I'm shifting, braking points and how hard, etc...

bigjae, are you in the army?

Used to be. Good to see a fellow track guy in Killeen...there are not many. Mostly retard street racers.

Yeah, might have been Dale. But there are a ton of white E9X M3s around. I was so conflicted that weekend about whether I drive the esses or drive the best way that I kept f'ing up that section badly. This year, if the gators are there...I drive the esses. If not, I'm going straight through until a track official tells me not to.

Its always fun to be a rebel.
