AIM Solo DL & Data Overlay
In my winter boredom (injured knee so no hockey, skiing etc for 6-8 weeks!!) I was looking though some of my track videos from last year and data logs from my Solo DL. I have tried to screw around with a few data overlay programs but haven't had too much success. I've tried the trials of both Dashware & Race Render 2 before committing to a purchase of one.
Any opinion on what is the best choice for a data overlay program? I did a search without much success. Is there a "Data Overlay for Dummies" out there? Any feedback would be great!!!

I haven't found anything yet that Dashware can not do. Inexpensive and very easy to get started with, once you do 1-2 projects you'll get the hang of it. Syncing data and video will be the most tedious task, as long as you pick a visible on-track marker (i.e. start line) you'll be good to go.
Ask away if you have questions, lots of Dashware users on this forum. |

I demo'd both Dashware & RR2. At the end of day I choose Dashware. The learning curve was a little steep in the beginning but now I have it running smooth. One reason I choose Dashware was based on flexibility of the gauges. It should be noted if you have multiple cameras and want a one stop rendering product then Race Render may be a better solution. Otherwise you will have to use multiple solutions to render additional cameras i.e. adobe premier, MS Movie Maker. Also, the support for Dashware either sucks or is non existent so expect to solve a lot of your own problems. Hope that helps.

You hit right on the money with their support though, it does not exist. It's one developer and usually does not answer emails. I use dashware + premiere for multiple cameras.
