Sweet, I've only run the 3.1 mile configuration back in the day (they didn't have the 3.4 mile one years ago). Looks like we can pick up a lot of speed going down that back straight.

Wow I was watching vids of 3.1 and it seemed much, much easier for a street car and novice weekend trackers. 3.4 has twice the turns that 3.1 does and takes the track to an altogether different level.

I would think that 3.4 would be overkill for most of us. I'm sure for the instructors and those in the A+ group it's a blast though.

link to vids of 3.1 please. There's only a couple of extra turns in the 3.4 mile config.

The 3.1 config I saw on the original announcement was one that has a problem corner on it that can eat cars. Better to avoid it for a school was my suggestion. Also, the 3.4 has a cleaner pit entry than the 3.1 since you peel off the straight and off course for the 3.4 vs. being right on course in the 3.1 config I'm familiar with.

I do believe that the last right/left before the front straight in the Lotus video isn't necessary for the school so the organizers can request just to take the right hander after the chicane exit and go straight (look for the wall of cones, you can go straight there instead of the R/L complex). The chicane on the back straight is beneficial for getting the cars down to a manageable speed. Without it, there's no good escape route if your brakes fade on the back straight, just a tire wall… Besides, the chicane is a blast to go through. So much fun to get it right.

Everyone should watch the lotus video and pick out the control tower and the electronic signal lights around the track. Also, note escape paths if your brakes fade in the braking zones. Where are you going to go? Us instructors like it better if you don't create a "that won't buff out" moment.

I've never been there and the vids certainly don't tell the story...but there appeared to be a lot more straights in the vids of the 3.1. There was less use of the infield sections.

On the sign up page (MotorsportReg.com) there a link to vids (pasted below). Most of them indicate the configuration so it was easy to find.

http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...river%20School

Regardless of config, I'm looking forward to learning this delicious-looking track

I'll be in an Imola 2002 M3 with German tourist plate on the front and Nurburgring sticker on the rear…

Old, slow guy driving, but you knew that.

When is the schedule for the weekend going to be sent out?

Also, do they serve breakfast and lunch at the clubhouse bar/lounge?

Track goes hot at 8:00am. Cold at 4:30pm due to limited sunlight. Track gates should open at 7:00am. Registration start at 7:15am on Saturday. Student meeting at 7:30am.

Had to move everything up a little to accommodate the limited amount of daylight.

See you all later.

Which group do you run in when you go to the PCA Las Vegas DE track events at Spring Mountain? I hear you need a fire suit if you run in the advanced group.

I usually run intermediate. I was allowed to run advance once just to give the open passing a feeler. Yes, they do require you to have a fire suit to fully run advance. They also have limited passing zones (Long straight sections only).
