2008 E9x DCT Dyno Setup
Hey guys, I did some research but couldn't find a definite answer. I will be participating in a local Dyno Day next weekend, and will be strapping down my M5 and my wife's E93 M3.
It's just a basic DynoJet in-ground, roller dyno. I know what's all necessary for the SMG m5, but what is all needed for the DCT m3? Anything particular, other than turning off traction control? Do I need to trip the hood latch like in the M5 so the car will drive with the hood open? 5th gear I read is optimal so I wanted to confirm that as well.

Hi. I dynod my car long time ago. 2008 dct. This was on a hub dyno .... I pulled some fuse for it to get into 3rd gear. Without pulling it, it would not shift into 3rd. You can do a search for that thread of mine long time ago..I forget which fuse it was.
I'm guessing a roller dyno is different. Sorry I'm not much help. |

Use 4th gear on DCT, not 5th. Remove plastic cover from passenger side valve cover to pick up spark plug wire on #1 cylinder for RPM. Without this, you will not have RPM data, and with it no torque data.

Any fuse I have to remove, or with roller it's fine to just drive on and dyno with DTC off?
So drive on with traction control off, pop hood to access passenger side spark plug cover for tach signal, and dyno in 4th.

That's all I did. Freaked out the stability/ABS system with a lot of warnings of stability system failures. Everything worked fine once off the dyno and the alarms went away.
