P0056

Agency Power catless midpipe installed a little over 1 month ago. Agency Power rear section installed earlier this week. Velos Designwerks Stage 2 tune flashed end of last week.

CEL is on. P0056 is the code. HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 2. CEL has been cleared multiple times and comes back as soon as the car is started.

I've searched for this code on here and found 1 thread discussing it, but couldn't confirm if it's an O2 sensor issue or an air pump issue.

Trying to confirm what the problem item is and hopefully determine if this is something that has been caused by the exhaust install or by the flashed software. The tune has included the option to delete the cold start, but the cold start will not go away. Velos is currently working on that.

Any advice is appreciated.

Did you install the midpipe or did you have someone else install it?

If the O2 sensors were not properly disconnected prior to removal then its possible the wiring to the sensor could have been damaged. Its a common error and easy to do.

I'd visually inspect the wiring, harness, and sensor. Should be pretty easy once you get the car jacked up. Some electronics cleaner on the sensor and harness wouldn't hurt either.

The fact that it returns immediately leads me to believe the sensor is either toast, or the wiring is damaged.

Had a tech at work install it. He's done several of them before.

After reading other threads, I was having issues confirming if this p-code was result of damaged o2 or result of tuning.

Sick colour in your signature. Is that a wrap?

Wasn't able to see these details on the app on my phone. Until now, I thought you made a blank post.

Excellent information. Thank you.

I'm such a n00b. Got the car up in the air today, and this entire time I had been looking at the passenger side because I assumed bank 2 was that side. I realize it's actually the driver side and we take a look at that o2. The main section is literally bent in half. No wonder it's not working.

Hey if it will make you feel better...I made the same mistake the first time I had to change my o2's.

At least it was an easy solution. You can get the O2 sensors on amazon for less than $100.

Turned out that Turner had a used one in stock from a 1,000 mile M3. Snagged it for $110. Better to go OEM than aftermarket on O2's.

Agree to disagree with you on this. Bosch makes plenty good sensors for many many cars. The O2 sensor is not a complicated sensor and Bosch has proven they can make them for our car. Many people will buy these off amazon and there have been no issues. But for $110, that isn't bad so it really doesn't matter.

That is good to know for next time. It's been a minute since I had to buy one, but I swear I remember reading that E36's and the older BMW's hated aftermarket O2 sensors. I just assumed the same applied to the newer ones.

I had that bookmarked to purchase *last week* until I determined the source of my CEL wasn't O2 related

Very pleased with Omar, Velos, and my tune. Omar has jumped through a million hoops trying to help me fix a problem that I thought was on his end, but was actually this o2 sensor. The car runs great, idles great, seems to already be getting better mpg's, and pulls hard throughout the power band. Defintely glad I went with Velos as I don't know if any of the other tuners could have put up with my nagging and pissed off attitude.
