No offense but how does adding more airflow add 50hp? Given a stroker engine or supercharged engine has no issue getting enough airflow to produce huge power, the stock airflow seems to offer plenty of air.

Plus you have to remove the powersteering and a/c. Then relocate the radiator? So for all out race car I imagine

Note that he says "with software", and it's pretty clear that motor is NOT stock...so the average person swapping that onto a largely stock motor will probably not see that gain, if any.

I certainly do not want to relocate items under the bonnet / hood and I assume most people on this forum share the same view.

Could you provide full details of your systems for road cars so that an informed decison can be made, e.g. comparison to stock airbox only.

• performance gains inc dyno reading
• weight saving
• air pressure
• air flow
• intake temperature
• sound difference when cruising and wide open throttle
• fitment quality

Is a tune / remap required to maximise the gains? Is the ECU not capable of adapting to the increased volume of air provided to the engine?

What happens to cars that already have a tune / remap to cater for primary cats removal from the exhaust? I don't want mine overwritten by your software, if you say that your software is required.

I would want to buy the hardware only and use my local tuner to update the map, if required.

Sorry to all, it is impossible a bigger box with different velocity stacks will make more than 5 hp if that. Its actually drawing air from only one location vs 3 from the stock box. Also you can easily look at a dyno and see the engine is not air limited at any point by the board flat torque curve and only way up in the 8k-8500 k range does the torque start to fall but that is not lack of air but rather lack of cams ability to open valves enough at that speed to let air in.

This engine does NOT need more air folks!!!! Unless you are supercharging and forcing in pressurized air but without pressurizing the air, the air has a limit volume that can flow into naturally and that air is at max with stock box. Only so much room in the cylinder guys and unless compressed no more air is going in!

Anyone pulled the trigger on any of these airbox so far ? Feedbacks ?

I would be very interested if any of the above vendors offered the plenum piece only. I have the Dinan intake elbow, which adds a little more aggressive sound, but I’m sure with a CF topped plenum, the intake sound would be even more aggressive. PM me if you sell this piece separately from the airboxes.

This design needs to be revisited with a dedicated hood in carbon allowing intake directly from the hood itself with minimalistic ram air guides but trying to yield maximum laminar airflow while still being able to capture water during rain and be able to release the water down below the car. Let me know if you want an Engineers input.

Karbonius offers a standard plenum that connects to the stock airbox and a race version that has a larger opening for direct air intake from the front (requires custom intake). I have their standard plenum with M V8 logo.

I actually decided to run my Karbonius plenum with my Dinan intake elbow. It was difficult to install the Karbonius CF elbow with ITG filter. They’ve since changed air filters brands so it might be easier now. I actually prefer the Dinan elbow design over the Karbonius elbow design. The Karbonius and Dinan CF weaves actually match up pretty well. I’ll have to take a pic.

I have a Karbonius CF plenum installed on my car. I have two exhaust setups. Full Akra with 200 cell HFCs, and AA x-pipe w/o cats (or with oem primary cats for emissions testing) and Akra axle-back muffler. I can clearly hear the Karbonius plenum over both exhaust setups. The Karbonius plenum is properly loud and makes awesome sounds!
