Help. Clunk sound from transmission when letting off gas in gear 1-2
I hear a clunk noise from the transmission area when I let off the gas in first gear. For example, I'm driving in 1st gear while in a parking lot and the RPM is at 3k, then I let go of the gas and and RPM drops and I hear a clunk noise. This also happens in 2nd too. I also hear it when getting off from 1st gear.
Its been getting worst lately and i been hearing it more and more. Any clues on what it might be? had a BMW mechanic hear it and couldn't tell what it was.

I would guess a driveline mount or flex disk.

You wouldn't by any chance have the repair procedure referenced in that PDF,
"RA 33 01 021" I would really like to see the details for reinstalling the diff input flange. |

I have similar noise in my car (DCT)
it sounds more like a clunk, like something is getting loose it happens when getting on and off the gas, as OP says, RPM drops and hear the noise, same to me so could it be clutch pressure plate dis/engaging noise? |

Check your rear diff bolts as well, sometimes it can sound like the clunk is coming from further forward. Rear diff bolts getting play from the squishy mounts and snapping is a know issue so be worth looking at.
