Costco Tires for a 2011 BMW M3?
Hello,
I was wondering if Costco is any good to get new tires from for a 2011 BMW M3. Also, i was wondering i have BMW warranty on my tires, so if i get any road hazards like nails, etc. BMW will replace them. Has anyone has this done? Where your tires have been damaged during a road hazard like running over nails and BMW replaced them with the warranty? Just curious. |

I wouldn't let a place like costco put low profile tires on 19" rims. They will just scratch the piss out of them.

They carry good tires like the Michelin PSS and probably have the best prices around, but they aren't used to dealing with higher end car so they are more likely to scratch up your rims or do something else, so from that standpoint, I would probably avoid them.

Use anywhere that carries decent brands and uses a hunter machine so they can be road force balanced. Costco does carry michelin ps2 and what not, however, I'm not sure if they use a hunter. The guy changing your tires at Costco very well might be the same guy changing them at your local dealer, but I would still be hesitant to let them work on my 2011 m3. Hunter's web site has a locator for shops in your area who use the machine. My advice would be to find a good shop in your area who caters to exotics and order through them or have tire rack ship them to their shop.

Not true. Every time the dealer has changed a tire, the wheel always come back scratched. I've had tire changes on 15 cars at costco and not a single problem. C'mon, those guys put tires on all. day. long. They have it down to a science.

I agree, the dealer is no better. I wouldn't be concerned about them scratching wheels, but using an impact wrench freaks me out.

My local COSTCO has been an excellent source for tires and I've always found them to be careful, professional and, up until a few years ago, offering the best prices. Their Michelin MXV4's were a great buy and a great tire on my e39.
In the last few years, though, I've bought tires from America's Tire Company. For one thing, the COSTCO discount is not as good when you have to buy a different size tire for front and rear. Secondly, I've found the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires to be almost on a par with (and much cheaper than) Michelin's. COSTCO does not sell that tire. The other thing I like about America's Tire is they fix flats free (I've used them three times for that, twice pulling nails out of the P-Zero's on my e92) and they have locations everywhere. Their people are friendly, helpful and professional but they have scratched the rims on one of my cars. It wasn't a big thing; but, in the future, I'm going to make a point of showing my rims to the sales person so we both agree: (a) on their condition going in and (b) they should be in the same condition coming out. |

It is totally dependent on the tech doing it. Doesn't matter where you are getting the tires mounted. If the tech is good, he'll do a good job. If he isn't then it won't be good.

Personally, I haven't had the best luck with them. On my audi they scratched up most if not all of the the rims one one occasion. Ruined a tire on another situation and I had to argue with them to get them to replace both tires on the axle even though the tire they ruined was outside the tread depth where I could replace just one per audi guideline. They also broke all four center cap on my infiniti and the person just slapped them on even though clearly they were broken and wouldn't stay on so they all fell of within the first mile of driving. They offered to replace all of them when I confronted them about it. They eventually replaced one or two of them and kept saying the others were "on order." So after several month of bugging them about it, I just paid out of pocked to buy them from the local dealer who of course had them in stock no problem. They never called to say the ever received them for me so apparently they were just feeding my BS about them being on order. So to answer the OPs questions, I wouldn't bring my M3 to them. But some stores and some employees are probably better than others, so its kind of the luck of the draw.

Costco is wayyyy overpriced. I work at a tire shop and we can usually beat costco's price by about $100 out the door. And that's including a healthy margin!

Depends on the quality of the technicians at your local costco. They are usually working on minivans and Prii. They do great work on my parents' civilian type cars, but I wouldn't trust them with an M3 wheel or anything low profile and nice. I'm sure they carry Pilot Super Sports though.

Not at all, which is too bad, because it's stock has been kicking ass. I just find people on this board have no clue what's up with Costco.
And here's their stock: .

So a lot of people are recommending me get my tires done at Costco i see. What brand tires should i get for my 2011 M3? When i take my car there to get tires, i will take pictures of everything on each rim. Then if there is any scratches on them, i will make sure they pay.
So i take it nobody has got warranty on their tires from BMW? In case of any road hazards? |
