US///M3,
Your guess of 5whp is probably fairly accurate in terms of gains through out the power band from an NA tune. I regret that I worded my initial post in such an inflammatory manner, in retrospect I should have left out my skepticism of the BPM tune reviews. It may have spurned a legitimate discussion and some hard #'s vs. the BPM fan club roll call we got. Either way, its a good racket if people will fork over $1000 for a throttle remap and questionable single digit hp gains. As for Benvo, I am AMAZED that he managed to bury his OE tuning/powerchip past and is claiming any sort of moral high ground. |

I get some of the skepticism and yeah that small of a % change doesn;t transform the car, but as far as all the tunes from the German tuners showing gains in the neighborhood of 12-18+ whp (AC Schnitzer, A-workx, PP-Performance, G-Power, RD, etc) on the same car are also part of this international dyno doctoring conspiracy as well? doesn't make much sense to me.

Proper tunes are not just "simple throttle remaps". But you're the expert so I'll defer to you since you seem to know what's changed. I have never buried anything and I never had any involvement with OE Tuning whatsoever, that was Gintani. I was a representative for PC five years ago after I left sales at ESS. I can tell you for a fact that the PC tune is far better than the tune you decided to go with back then. Were you paid to make your original post? Please carry on, have a nice day, never get a tune for your car because it clearly doesn't do anything (everyone that has one is a fool), and stop wasting everyone's time with your unnecessary propaganda. I must drive around with the stock tune in my personal M3 and M5 since they don't do anything useful. ![]() |

One of my first priorities was reliability. I have no interest in gaining a couple of hp at the expense of my out of warrantied engine. Quote:
At the end of the day we are talking about 40 (rough number) hp gained from a TP + tune combo. We arent talking turboed kind of engine, but still a decent sized chunk here.

I think OP should try a tuned car first then start a thread to speak his mind. Tune certainly doesn't turn car into a monster or the things some might add to their reviews. But it does have it's effects mostly in the mid range. It's good for DD and heavy trrafics where the car feels more reponsive and torque-ish in mid range so you can be in one gear higher to have better MPG or in my case shut the exhaust off.
And since OP went OT and made it personal, in defense of Mike B i should say from what i've seen he seems to be a decent person. He helps members whether they are his customers or not. I don't have his tune on my car, so i can't speak about his tuning skills but you can't be a bad tuner and have many satisfied customers, Can you? |

The tune alone wont give any noticeable gains like some raved in their reviews. On a side note, the s65 has already an amazing throttle response, any more throtlle response the car becomes a bucking bronco. |

Actually the tune makes the power delivery smoother too. Anyway, that's for us to know, for everyone else to find out I guess.

I was probably the most sceptical. I was convinced the power gains were
from the 240E software, I was dead wrong! Mike worked his stage 1 majic on my 2012 M3, now it's faster, smother and more efficient. I drive in D5 most of the time and I've noticed at 39 mph it will go into 7th gear. Was it worth the money...... Yes! |

I have the BPM engine tune and the DCT coding I received one cable for the engine tune, the new Gen II cable. And a second cable for the DCT coding. And i can say... the car pulls far better than before, more torque in 2-3 K rpm range and runs very....very strong The DCT coding..... amazing(very smooth now when cold),the DCT shift feeling is now in MDM mode(S-5)...a kick in my back and shifts are now even faster For me personal.... is Mike-Benvo and the BPM tune.... the man !!! ![]() |

You misunderstood. We expect tuners to understand safety margins and tuning on the conservative side. Meaning no one goes to a tuner worried the car should blow up. If that's the case. Run far away |

I am a somewhat unhappy tune customer...of Evovle's.
I don't feel that my tune did anything. The dyno showed negligible gains. It was on 231E and ran till it wouldn't make anymore power. Still strapped on the dyno, flashed to tuned 231E. Ran till it wouldn't make more power. It gained 6 HP or less over the curve. As far as response and all that BS, I didn't feel much. Definitely not enough to justify $1K. So basically, they turned my CEL off for $1000. And now, I have been waiting for my 240E file since January.
