\end thread.
Well since 231E and 240E are EXACTLY the same powerwise - here is a dyno for you:

I know plenty of cars from friends that are "faster" than mine but in the end I drive a perfectly balanced M3.

Be nice. I think the OP's post was quite a bit over the top with conspiracy theory/skepticism - to the point of suggesting fraud - and that it merits the type of response received.

I think a better approach would have been to not insult people needlessly.

I'm not defending bubu. STI guy just posts to post IMO.

Seems to be the primary focus but is not the most important aspect. Sacrificing reliability, safety, or driveability for negligible bumps in power is a step in the wrong direction.

yes but that's a given. No one in their right mind goes to a reputable tuner worried about the car's longevity.

I expect power; esp cause these tunes are @ 1,000 which IMO is ALOT of money for a little gained. I have ECUtek on my last car (tuned by Sean Ivey himself) for half of that.

12K for a Supercharger and 200hp gained = $60/hp

1K for a tune and 20hp gained = Less than $60/hp.

So I guess superchargers are a lot of money for a little gained too since they have nearly the same price per HP ratio

The software changes the car. It's not all about power.

Jumping out of this thread, have a nice day everyone.

we could go one all day; you are running a business (to profit) and no one can fault you for that, but can I voice my opinion on (what I feel) are overpriced tunes?? Yes def.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Tuning for German cars is not as easy or accessible as tuning for other markets.

If you knew how much information costs to purchase from Germany you would understand why the price is what it is, not to mention operating costs, and equipment costs.

I know what the costs involved are, and I also commend people who are able to really dive into the newer BMW DME for tuning, but c'mon $ is $. If you're gonna put yourself in the public eye, be ready for criticism is all...

No harm no foul my friend. We try to educate people on how things work and be on the cutting edge of technology. We do value and respect your opinion at the same time.

One of the reasons I went with BPM is because of the way Mike stresses that the tune stays within safe parameters. As far as cost, I wasn't thrilled about laying out $1k for 20hp, but what intrigued me was how every reviewer said it "smoothed" out the power delivery which IMO was subpar right out of the box. I don't have that stepped powerband any more and what I mean by that is in stock form the car accelerates but there is no feeling of torque until 3k and really doesn't get going until 4k. With the tune it just pulls evenly and progressively and with much more torque below 3k. If you're buying a $60k car, spending $1k to make it drive *IMO* SO MUCH better is not really a stretch.

I'm on the phone so can't search but search for 'got myself tuned' and you'll see my gains with tune only, pulleys, and test pipes. Good luck

If there were an option box at the dealer when I bought the car for 20 additional HP for $1k, I would have checked it.

I get where the op is coming from, a lot of those reviews sound like the tune added an extra 50 hp. Lol

It's a placebo effect, you know like when some swear their axle back exhaust transformed the car in terms of power and low end torque.

Of course they post some dyno charts to back up their claims. Hahahaha

Google "cort Wagner" he commented on the tune as well. I'm on my phone so I can't find it. He's probably a paid sponsor though. He is part of the conspiracy too!

+1.

I've had three ESS tunes (stock cats, Akra Evo V1, Akra Evo V2), and with each upgrade there has been noticeable improvement. I don't doubt Mike's work is first class as well.
