So you think that people all over the world are being paid by Benvo to write positive comments? I have nothing to add to this thread really, Mike's work speaks for itself. What do I gain by writing a "generic" positive review exactly? And the comments about customer service are absolutely true. With that in mind, I'll go ahead and leave this picture of three BPM Stage 2 tuned M3's on top of a mountain so that this thread isn't completely useless.

And no, we were not paid by Mike to take this picture

They can't put it on the Internet if it's not true.

I met forum member, Merlosso, who does custom coding on BMWs, and he said he loves his tune from BPM and that the customer support couldn't be better. Looking forward to picking up their tune in the near future.

Hey Benvo/Tech, how was that? Was my sentence structure good enough this time? I think I can do better, should we do another take? I will nail it next time, I promise!

Terrible. You make us other BPM journalists look bad.

And you didn't include a funny GIF.

You're fired.

I am not sure where you are going with this but I was referring to the OP's comment on his curiosity of why he has only heard good reviews and nobody bashing the tune. With that being said I was referring to the point that people probably wouldn't bash something they invested that kind of money into even though there is no need because quite frankly the tune is near perfection to me.

BTW, I found your so called Smallville, the sooner you move the better so I am not to waste my time on stupid replies like this.

Even if Mike's tune made no additional power (but it does), the improved driving characteristics are worth the money spent. That car just feels "right".

DCT tune that I'm going to get won't add power but will make the car drive better and shift better, and that to me is worth it.

Its about the driving experience and not just the additional power and his tune definitely enhances the experience across the entire RPM range; and I already had a Dinan tune in the car - so the improvement in my feel was over a competitive tune and not a stock tune if that makes sense.

Try to go drive another tuned car and see the difference for yourself.

I have the ESS tune, and while I love it, I do know from my own code reader (and Mike confirmed this independently when he did my coding), that the O2 sensors were disabled as part of the std tune, even though I have all my cats and my exhaust is cat-back. I don't know to what extent the primary CAT O2 sensors give info back to engine (have seen contradictory info on this), but according to some tuners (i,e Dinan), properly returned fuel mixture info returned to the DME may result in engine running cooler with less wasted fuel and better ignition timing. Mike can correct me on this, but I think his tune keeps all sensors running (for cars with all cats) and all safeguards in place.

The BPM reviews have been so overwhelmingly positive, that I may try his tune, as it sounds like it really improves the low-end torque and after a few track events, I can see where this can come in handy. The only thing holding me back is I only have Macs, but I think I may just buy VMWare/Windows and get it done.

Even with Macs it's no problem, but you need to say it to Mike,so he will sent you files that they will be addapted to Macs
I have the BPM tune and the BPM DCT coding done with Windows
But you can alway's contact Mike and ask him.... no problem

I somewhat understand OP's skepticism as I went through it myself. I read about "how it makes the car come alive" and "it feels like a different car" and "the low end torque". I just felt like these guys were trying to justify spending $1k on a "tune". Well, I finally drank the Kool Aid. I'm going to be writing a full review soon (I have had the Stage 2 tune for about a month). I will say this though, when I first got it I was underwhelmed (because of the hype and I paired TP's with stock muffler...not a good combo, so I think I was distracted by the "hole in the muffler type sound"). I had to bring it to the dealer recently so I flashed back to stock and the car feels like a complete pig. With the tune, the tach seemed like it was spring loaded! In stock form, it's like draggin a stick through mud until 4k. I can also feel the torque difference starting at 2500, whereas before I didn't get that feeling until 3500. The difference is astounding, and Mike's customer service is second to none!!!I was updated to 240e about 4 months ago, so that definitely is not a factor. Excuse my poor sentence structure. Let's put it this way, if BPM started to charge a "subcription fee" for the tune I would definitely pay it! Now don't get any crazy ideas, Mike!

I'm not understanding your logic here. Paying $1,000 for a tune that doesn't live up to your expectations is exactly the reason why somebody would post up a negative review. I certainly would want to let others know if I had purchased an expensive tune that didn't perform well.

OP, the reason you're not seeing negative reviews is because there aren't any. Personally, I have an ESS tune and think it was worth every penny. I have no reason to doubt BPM's tune is just as good.

Now Mike Benvo mentioned (as do others that have his tune) that it's not necessarily about the peak HP, but the feel of the car that really sings the biggest difference, but since the OP is more interested in the real-world HP increase translated difference, here's my then stock 2009 E93 w/ M performance exhaust racing a friend's (phoenixrising)'s stock 2013 E93 M3 w/ the BPM tune. Same tires, wheels. My car was running 200E software at the time. Not terribly outdated, but obviously not the newest either. But to answer your question- YES, it is faster.

First, I am not picking on BPM alone...I'm questioning the value of any and ALL of the NA tunes period. I'm glad you guys love your NA tunes, be they BPM, ESS, or whomever...I want to see an independent dyno showing the power gains. I drank the GIAC cool-aid back in 2010 and feel the tune did not produce any power. A before/after dyno from a car running the latest factory software would end the discussion. The post was not a call to single out BPM individually, rather BPM is by far the most reviewed tune on this forum which made me wonder how legit the reviews & tune are.

I'd like to see ANY vendor selling NA tunes to show some independent dynos. There are dozens if not hundreds of Dyno's showing FI gains...yet nothing that definetively documents gains obtained from a NA tune.

Show some hard data to back up the amazing NA tune reviews. I'm surprised that people pluck out thousands of dollars for NA tunes without having hard data...do a stock 240E pull & flash the tune, do another dyno then post the results. Butt dyno's are wonderful, and I get that drivability improves...I don't dispute it. I drive my car with the power button on 100% of the time because of improved "drivability' but it does not mean that the power button actually adds power. How many of those threads have we seen on here?

gatorfast,

show me a thread with a before & after dyno of a 240E software car pre and post tune from ANY vendor selling NA tunes! Factory 240E software was shown to provide 10 to 15 wheel gains. End of thread...

Thanks everyone and /end thread.

Some people will question reality and there is a point to just allow them to believe their constructed mindset in lieu of contradictory evidence.

Bubu: I've posted a dyno of my car before and after with 240E software. There are dynos posted around if you look enough before and after with 240E and 231E. We tell our customers that the gains are more significant if they are on very outdated software, I.e. 80E, 110E, etc. the majority of cars we tune are already on 231E or 240E to begin with. Perhaps you can share the differences with us between power on 231E and 240E? There is no difference.

I'm willing to contribute $200 to your purchase of an eVolve or AA tune and see for yourself the difference.

OP, I know these are not graphs but they are at least a visual experience of the tune for BPM. Also, they really don't show the overall end state but I can guarantee you that the initial pull is the same as the final pull that you do not witness. I am running in these videos test pipes with a Stage 2 BPM tune.

This is VS. stock.....

This is VS. "ESS Stage 2" same modifications......

I dont have to show you anything. I can see the dyno charts others have posted and I take their reviews to be sincere. You seem to be the only one here with an issue. If you think all the tunes are garbage then dont buy one! But dont come on here telling all these happy customers that their tunes are worthless and the power/driveability gains are figments of their imaginations.

If you are really interested in a tune, Im sure some of the vendors offer some sort of trial where you can feel it for yourself.

Mike, I appreciate your response...

You can claim that I'm detached from reality all you want, but the bottom line is that there are no independent dyno's of ANY tune (especially BPM) out there with cars running 240E before & after showing gains.

\end thread.
