COTA coming up!

For those of you going to COTA in a couple weeks, here's a video to get you pumped up. From the PCA clubrace/DE event a couple weeks ago. We only got about 20 laps total on Sat/Sun due to all the accidents . It takes a few laps to get the hang of things. The track is surprisingly technical and not much of a friend to cars with the engine in the wrong end. Everything is bloody blind, either due to elevation or walls. Lots of elevation changes and camber changes.

Here are two videos from the Driver's Edge DE. Yeah there are some pretty complex turns. The esses...you can really dork up T3 and not realize it until you try to survive T5...then T6 will eat you alive. T3 is easy to be off because you turn in WELL before you can see the apex.

Pretty excited! I'm predicting that this will be the last DE on COTA for a long, long time.

Hopefully this one goes a little smoother. I believe most of the racers are from Texas so I think people are more inclined to play nice but we'll see.

Yes we will, but the idea that "texans" play nice seems a bit of a stretch

but you are from Chicago, so we know you don't have a pistol, so we'll just shoot you.

Actually driving 3 days. Friday as well, we get the most time on Friday - mainly for those who need to learn the track to tell students on sat/sun how not to crash.

Whut? I can teach you that. Just yell these words in a high pitch whiney voice, "DON'T CRASH!"

I'm in the advanced group and really want to take an instructor along for a couple of sessions (it's been awhile since I've had one)...willing to volunteer?

Well I might learn something...

Not sure how they are going to do assignments, etc. If I'm free, sure!

I'll be there too, currently assigned to garage #26.

Just got an invite from my BMW sales guy to Friday's BMW VIP event (classroom, track time, track tour) which will give me an additional session with a "pro" instructor on Friday. They'll probably be surprised to see me show up with track tires & race pads! What a sweet B-day present!

Good point, but I'm more in to hand-to-hand, CQB, and edged weapons, which are all pretty useless against guns, but not always

Garage assignments are still most likely going to change.

Friday's VIP session is not designed for people with track experience. If you expect an "extra" session then you will be sadly disappointed.

I was pretty much expecting that it would be similar to friends Cadillac test drive at COTA back in December or January. Highly controlled on the track with pylons and speed limited on the back straight. But no information was given out with the invite except that I would be driving my own car (not a demo) with a professional driver. You're right it might be a little lame but I'm sure I can learn something which is all I really want. And some swag.

Really wish you had some data overlay, interested in throttle/brake and MPH. What was that groups average lap time if you don't mind me asking?
