I ordered a full set of StopTech Street Performance Pads

Although I am worried that they will not withstand the heat, I decided to give them a try due to the very low cost and limited noise. My hope is that I can be lazy and leave them in during the track season. Will see. Right now I have XP10 front and XP8 rear for track and OEM pads for street. This is all with OEM brake components. I know that StopTech brakes and these pads work well at the track already.

I can manage brakes quite well, and I have no issues with braking at 600 instead of 400 if that saves me time and cost.

I will let you all know how that is going to work out for me.

StopTech® Street Performance are now my track and street pads. I am using them with OEM brake components - calipers, rotors, etc. When managed just a bit, they work well for dual duty. Not a race pad, but a good dual use pad. I highly recommend them, unless you are really hard on brakes and do not mind swapping pads. (I am in relatively cold Seattle, not sure about Arizona or Texas weather.)

I recommend you try them before going Pagid or Hawk.

I was thinking about trying these for DD and autocross... How is their initial bite vs stock, and how are they re dusting/noise.

+2 on this pad. I've run it at 2 track events since May 1st with Motul fluid and SS lines and the performance has been great. They are my daily pad and there's no noise and the brake dust is very limited. Much improved over the stock pad in every way. I highly recommend this pad...........Phil

I like these pads for the street and I like the bite of the PF01s for the track. If I wasn't willing to swap pads...these Stoptechs would be my first choice.

The Stoptech Street Performance pads are what should've come on the car from the factory IMHO. It's an excellent street pad that dusts less than OE but can also take more heat.

How's the wear on track vs. a purpose built track pad? Any idea on how the pads react to overheating? Smear and die a fast death or gives you warning?

ST pads didn't work @ the track for me. Kept fading 3/4's through the second N'burgring lap. Says in the ST instructions they are not to be used for the track. Going with Pagid RS29's front & rear. Hear the initial bite isn't as good as some of the others but the wear is great.

I find the ST pads to work surprisingly well on the track. I agree - they will fade after extended sessions, but if you're running 20 minutes or so at a time, you should be fine (though your results will probably vary depending on ambient temps). They also don't last as long. I'll get 4, maybe 5 events before I need to replace the fronts. But given they're so cheap, I don't really care.

I'm installing a brake cooling kit soon and will be curious how that extends bite during sessions and pad life over time. I'm optimistic.

I ran cobalt xr1/xr3's for one lap this year and they were awesome... But I've found that the st street/track pads do just fine for DE's with street tires. The tires will get greasy first before brakes overload. I have the 6 piston ST's.

Who's a good vendor for getting ST pads? I need some more

There is really no such thing as dual purpose pads...Manufacturers claim they are but you can't really have the best of both worlds when it comes to brakes on the track. I run PFC-01s on the track and OEMs on the street.

Agree, and I too run PFC-01. Although I will say running a BBK changes the game and allows you to run a non-race pad if running 380/355 in most cases. It's all relative-there are guys that are happy with OEM pads on track, they just aren't going too quick.

True, running a BBK is a different story. PFC's do the job very well if going fast on the track as well as other manufacturer's race pads

Just installed a set last weekend and very impressed. These are my street pad, Hawks for the track. BTW Ebay buy now from R1 Concepts is the best price anywhere, check it out.

I ran ST street pads on my last track event with stainless lines and ATE fluid. I thought they performed great. Good initial bite and they held up well over four 20 minute sessions. I left them on after the event and have been running them on the street. I am very happy with them thus far.

Before I bought them I called Stop Tech and spoke to their lead tech. I told him I was interested in using them for track days and he told me he thought they would do well for that. He also told me the street pads have an MOT of 1400 degrees which is close to most race pads. I have another event next week so we'll see how they do for a second day.
