Drive settings not saving...help?

New M3 is great...but having a small issue...when I start the car back up the settings (power, EDC, etc) are not saved and I have to set them all again...manual says they should be saved on the remote...

Any ideas why it is not working?
Am I missing something?

Thanks...

Not in car right now, but . . .

Go to "M Button" menu, and click the right mouse button (I think it's actually called the "Option" button) . . .

Should be two things - M SETTINGS and KEY DEPENDENT SETTINGS.

M settings you can set sport plus power, traction control - off/MDM, S6, EDC. Key dependent settings you can only set Power on or off and EDC sport, normal, comfort.

UCBphd is correct. You're looking for the M Key setting that you get to that by following his instructions. Whatever you select under M key will be your start up configuration.

As long as you have your key in the dash (may or may not be required, not sure), and get to the right menu, it should work fine, unless, say, your key is defective . . .

Hmmm, maybe hit the back button after changing your settings or having the key in while doing it?

Yeah, it would not surprise me if the system didn't save it to your key until you left that menu cleanly.

Ok...so I understand...the key dependent settings have to be set thru iDrive...not just the couple buttons by the shifter...

Sound correct? Yes...I need remedial training...

Yes do it on the nav. Those buttons are kind of like for on-the-fly changes.

US DCT software remembers the D settings and defaults the S settings to S3 every start up. Euro DCT on the other hand defaults D settings to D2 and remembers S settings every start up.
