E92 M3 is over priced!
the price i got in HK is 1.38m HKD for a base car without EDC, Mdrive etc... which is nearly double of what the E46 M3 was asking for when it was brand new.... FYI... M5 is only 1.5m
i'm guessing every market will see a huge increase (already seen so in some places like UK and Austrailia!). i dont think the Canadian price is looking good either. i'm guessing its gonna start late 80s + option looks like E46's will be my last ///M for a while... i might as well go for a Carrera S for that price! who else is dropping the idea of getting the new ///M and go with something else?? there seems to be alot of choices in that range, especially with new GTR coming.

i totally agree with you. if this thing starts in the mid-60's in the US, which i believe it will, i will seriously consider porsche and i think bmw will miss their target m3 sales goals by 50%.

"62K base tops", you're looking at $70K with a few options. 65K will get you an 05 997S with warranty and low miles, I'm also considering a 996tt in the same price range. But, I'm not ruling anyhting out untill i see and drive the car.
Finally for the money 335i is a "wiser" choice, keeping in mind I wouldn't be surprised if you'll get to see 4 of them on every street corner, with in a couple of years. |

I never said it was a good thing... but you get what you pay for. This is a European luxury sportscar with supercar stats. At 62K, I still think its a steal when put up against similar European sports cars with as much engine and performance.

i wonder if BMW employees people to go around forums and do recon work to check out how their market feels about options/price/etc. Hopefully someone is reading these threads and reporting back to Munich about our detest for the high pricing.

It is all about € vs $ ratio; all EU companies have a verry hard time exporting their products to the US.................so I`ll recon the price in the US for EU products, including the M3, will rise substantialy........................

The 135i is a damn good deal with the potential of becoming one of the best "pocket rocket" cars ever to satisfy the younger crowd, and the 335i gives another option to E92 for less than $20K. So they are doing their home work. |

If I was a gambling man, I would put my money on 57K base. 60 and over doesnt make any sense to me with cars like Porsche and Benz in that rare 70-80K air.
So that being said, 57K base and 65-67K nicely equiped.... Jason

(course if we enter into a recession from this mortgage lending mess I may have to recant this). 67k should cover most of the good options and if you want EVERYTHING then "yeah" you might be looking at 70k or a little more. But BMW knows most buyers will not option out there cars to 100%. I cannot tell you how many E46 M3's I see with no Nav...... Also, when the E46 M3 came out many people were paying 10-15k over sticker for them and I would be willing to bet this "M" will see at least 10k being asked over MSRP as well. Why would people pay 10-20K over sticker for a Bimmer when they could have a Porsche? I don't know. But for now the "M3" badge is still a very hot item and at least here in California Porsche's are exceedingly common. That being said, now that we are gitting into 4th gen "M" models, better and better competitors, and as their numbers increase I do believe that they will not be able to command over sticker premiums forever, IMHO...... |

From my point of view the M3 is still a 3 series (yeah, I know about what parts it borrows from the regular 3)- and upwards of $70K for a 3 series is nuts. If that's what evolves, the only good choice in this price range is a 911. Or, you can go the other way and buy the 335i - much better price value.

Here in Switzerland the M3 is 30% cheaper than an equally equipped 997S, so that's no option. I still think the M3 is a bargain; the only competitor that comes close is the RS4 which is also more expensive.

Regardless of the base price, there will always be the dealer markup I am sure. It'll be nice to see who's correct when the prices are released!

There is not even an educated guess right now that would be much more than a guess.

But, I'm hoping it could be as early as the LA Auto show in Nov/Dec (can't remember when it is now, but it's before Detroit) I also hope the price-performance ratio of the new M3 compares favorably with the C63..... yes, it's still a 3 series and BMW should know how "badge conscious" we US buyers are! We won't pay Porsche prices for an M3 just like we wouldn't pay BMW 7 series prices for a VW (Phaeton flop) |

If there are any BMW investigators reading this site (which I'm sure there are not) hopefully they'll read that comment of yours and hustle back to Munich telling their bosses not to aggregiously overpirce the M3.

I'm guessing 55K base, if it's 60K I will grab a Carrera S.

I think it's absolutely RIDICULOUS for BMW to ask 62k on the new M3 base. We had the previous one for 48k, and the new one isn't all that much faster! A car company is supposed to update their vehicles every 7 years, and that doesn't mean the price should jump 14k?!?
