Angel eye option in Aus?
Just thought I'd see if anyone has any recommendations on where to buy some nice white angel eyes locally?
I'm looking for a set for my M3 and X6. |

Probably the best drop in LEDs are LUX, Then here are the HID angel eyes (as per my car and MFKN3's) which are the brightest. If it helps I have a set here of AngeliBright which were fitted before the HID's I had to modify the wiring loom on these to make them work properly. They are going to give you around the same as LUX which you would have to bring in. If you want to give them a try out you are welcome. They are just sitting here.
I think there is nothing better or advanced than OSS design which is going to be my next project. It is a big job though and means sending the headlights to Florida USA Nothing is really available locally, replacing the H8s with whiter bulbs and brighter ones will most likely cook the lights and is an option I would stay away from as they are generally 55 watts instead of 35 watts. |

I second DaveDee - Lux H8 LEDS are a drop-in solution and provide a very white light indeed.
Can't recall where I got mine, but it was online from the US. A search will reveal plenty of options for you. Mine on a rainy track day

Hi HPP-M3
It's made by Chris Sneed in the US. Wing is great, brackets OK. I have it through-bolted onto the boot lid frame - nice solid mount. Very light - they dropped the first one during manufacture and it fractured so they made a new one. I find it helps at higher speeds, esp. sweeping bends. An angle of 2 deg. good for less winding tracks, 5 degrees for more corners and up to 7-8 degrees in the wet. Drag is there for sure, but so is downforce. Look at the higher speed shots (blurred background) and you'll notice the slight front lift-off. It feels like it starts to work around 80-90 Kmh. Putting KW clubsports on shortly for hopefully will translate to less suspension compression and more contact patch. I am planning to quantify my feelings with some timed laps and different pitch settings (including removal) at a Winton T & T day very soon. PS - i only put it on for the track. Only the low-profile mounts stay on the boot lid.

I think Andrew at Southern BM sells them too or you can buy on line from the manufacturer direct. http://luxangeleyes.com/products. Because they are under $1,000 there is no tax or import duty and shipping is quite cheap.
Quite often the guys who sell here have to pay the duties because of the purchase size and quantity they bring in, is it's always going to be dearer. Everyone seems t be happy with the Lux LEDs but as true daylight running light none of the LEDs are that brght. Usually they are a high power (10Watt) LED on a heatsink that conducts light into a conductive light pipe, unlike Audi who have front facing LEDs The best solution is OSS but obviously the most expensive. The light pipes are replaced with an array of white LEDs. |

I have LUX V3 and couldn't be happier. But not as bright as my wife's 2011 X3 day time running lights (rings) which can be seen from far.

One of the simplest M3 mods
Here you go... dead simple...you just have to watch the rotation of the fitting. They have to be fitted with the correct registration which I think is highlighted in the video Should not give any errors, I think they are all quite good now as far as errors. Install should not take more than about 20 minutes |

It's easy as long as you have small hands to work behind a confined space behind the light. I don't have big hands but I struggled. I suggest if you know someone at the dealership, take it to them ... it's a 2 minute job.

I have them in stock and can fit them for you as well. We have a few supercharged M3's in at the moment you can view. I can show you these lights on my M3 or the 135i if you like.

If you can't do it yourself, go to Andrew at Southern BM as above. He is THE expert. Cheers

Hi Andrew,
I'm looking at getting these along with the LCI upgrade... can you PM me a price. I came in a few weeks ago with my mate(white 1M) to look at the M3 for sale and you took us for a test drive. |

Did you managed to find an answer for the rings not lighting up after continuous unlock/lock?. Could be the iDrive cutting the power due to battery low? |

There should never be any problems with the car cutting power to the angel eyes when locking/unlocking. the only thing that might happen is you try to lock/unlock to quickly and the car will not do it everytime. Since they are only a bulb replacement they still behave the same exact way.
