Do you get treated better, worse or the same at the dealer with an M3
So was wondering peoples experience of how they are treated at the service or dealer in general since you have owned the m3. I have not had enough to know whether its different than my last car, which was another relatively expensive bimmer, but wondering if people get good treatment or the same as everyone else? I would assume they treat everyone equally but just curious in real life if that is true?

I find my treatment is based on mutual respect. I treat the Service Advisers and Technicians courteously, and I get the same in return.
I've never had an issue, so far... |

Personally, I honestly feel that appearance plays a small part in how one is treated walking into a dealership. It's not the "whether you are attractive" appearance thing, it's more "Do you appear to be a serious buyer" appearance thing. A good example of this is pulling onto the lot of a Porsche dealership in, let's say, a Nissan Altima wearing jeans and a t-shirt vs pulling onto the lot in an M3 wearing khaki's and a buttoned shirt. I think the average sales person is going to draw some type of conclusion about buying intention of the customer.
Like it or not, but discrimination does exist in the auto sales industry.

In the UK it makes no difference, you get the same level of service with a 1 series or an M3. And that's a good thing in my opinion, as I have a 1 series and an M3.

Fairly subjective question, depends on the appearance, attitude and behaviour of you the customer and the attitude and behaviour of the sales person...

Treated the same. However, my dealership uses a non-English speaking valet parking company to check-in cars. Just wonderful; They could care less.

I can't speak for service, but sales, I do feel appearance plays a role. When I was recently shopping for an M3, I found that certain dealers were less inclined to work with me when I strolled in wearing a ball cap, t-shirt (with lots of tattoos showing), jeans and old sneakers. I wear suits for 60+ hours a week, so on the weekends I like to dress more comfortable (bordering sloppy).
Personally, I believe believe in mutual respect regardless of what somone drives, looks like, etc. You treat me well, I treat you well. |

Same with the M3. Better with the M5. I think they smell money every time I drive in.

From my brief experience yesterday, I can tell you that BMW customer service does not even begin to compare to other luxury brands.
Has anyone had trouble getting a loaner car or rental from the dealer when yours in being serviced? The "Assistant Manager" said if I wanted a rental then I could pay for it as they don't provide this service. I found it odd, but this is my first time dealing with BMW service. (Car still under warranty) At Mercedes, they would give me a loaner vehicle while my car was being serviced no matter if it were for 4 hours or three days. BTW. I'm always polite, cool, calm and collected, but that didn't help. On the other hand... The hot blonde after me got killer service, in fact they couldn't do enough. So IDK!?!? |

My dealership treats everyone with the same curtesy and respect as it should be in business. I don't expect anything more.

Pulling into the service drive in my 650i, X5, or M3 has been the same. As many have stated, it's about the relationships you have formed. You gotta be respectful and as many on here like to say......you can't be a douche because you drive an M3. It's another car on the service drive to them. Drop your tech or SA a small appreciation package one day and that will start your relationship in the right direction. Everyone wants to be appreciated for a job well done. And on the flip side, you have to handle problems just as professionally and mature. Everyone makes mistakes......................Phil
