The IAA is so big that it is only held every "other"(odd numbered) year(s). So the next show in in Sept 2013! It takes months for the exhibits to be built up for the Frankfurt autoshow.

A this year's show - close to a million people came to see the IAA show over eight days! On the press day there was just over 11K people, while on a public day(s) there is over 120K people - at the show!!!

I believe that the Paris Autoshow is held in the off years of the IAA. So you might want to go to that.

Close enough to touch them! They are really starting to grow on me. Especially the i8. These cars are Born Electric - meaning they are extremely light weight and strong from the ground up and designed with being electric from the beginning. Not some hybrid after thought to an existing car. You can see it in the inner structure of the i8 the CF frame structure, like above the driver and glass roof area.

I heard on the German radio that the i3 will sell for under 40K euros, have a 0-100kph in under eight seconds and a range of 180kms per charge. Charging will only take a few hours. The i3 is only an electric car while the i8 is a hybrid. I like them both. But the i8 is pure sex, while the i3 is just a (plain) city car.

Thanks so much for the information, I might just do that, fly to London UK then take the Eurostar to Paris. My plan was to visit both cities anyway (Museum Tour) then pick up a new 2012 BMW at Die Welt in München. I'll keep an eye out for the date of the next IAA.
