Brembo 380mm BBK with 18 Wheels
Hi Guys,
I'm doing research right now looking for 18" wheels that will work with the Brembo 380mm 6/4 BBK for E92 M3. So far, I have found 2 (maybe 3). To me, this will be the ultimate BBK/wheel setup, providing maximum stopping power with an 18" wheel for more affordable tire options for guys that want to track their new M3. BTW, the OEM 18" wheels with definitely NOT work with the Brembo BBK for E92 M3. Watch for a post very soon with details, and package deals. Bob

If you've found it please share!!! I have gone through 2 rear PS2's in 2 trackdays and I can't afford to keep changing them at this rate at €450 per tire!!! Would love an 18" option. Mick |

Brembo 380mm BBK with 18 Wheels
Quote:
Here is what I have for you... CONFIRMED WHEELS: So far, I have confirmed 2 wheels that will work with the Brembo 380mm (15') BBK. The HRE Competition Series and the CCW Corsair series will definitely work. This gives us the best of both worlds. We can run the larger 15" rotors, which will give us superior heat dissipation and the 18" wheels will keep us from having to sell a kidney to afford R-compound tires. VOLK TE37S MIGHT WORK: I now have the Brembo BBK on MY E92 M3. I have a set of Volk TE37s that are 18.9.5" front and 18x10.5" rear wrapped with BFG R1s in 265/40 and 295/35. According to my initial measurements with a template the Volks might work. My rep @ Mackin says no, but there is a chance. If they do clear, it will be VERY tight. I will try to find the time in the next few days to try the Volks. I would prefer the Volks, because they are 10,000 forged and the large inner diameter is achieved entirely during the forging process. The CCWs are CNC'd to achieve clearance, but there are a lot of Corvette guys running the 380mm Brembo BBK with CCWs with great success. WHY YOU WANT 380mm ROTORS & 18" WHEELS: There will be some other brake manufacturers that will try a caliper upgrade but, according to my sources, adding a larger caliper to the stock rotor may exceed the rotor's heat capacity. That makes perfect sense to me, because you'd be increasing clamping force and friction, which will mean more heat. This is why Brembo insisted on going to a 380mm rotor. Their policy is to never put a rotor a car that doesn't exceed the heat capacity of the OE rotor. I just received a PM from a member asking about this very topic, because he cooked his OE brakes at a track event. I will announce wheel/brake packages ASAP. If the Volks work, we might try to arrange a GB to get the proper fitment made. More info to come ASAP... Bob |

Sound promising! I hope the HRE 890 series work. I like the hidden fasteners.

I have a major track bug....
I am looking for some Brembos that will fit the stock 18inch rims... Any suggestions on where and what to get. I am looking to have these for both track and street and just switch in some race pads for the track events. Any help would be great!

I guess I was misunderstood. I am not looking to get aftermarket breaks that wont fit my 18inch stock rims. Is there not a brembo kit that will fit the stock 18s?

Sure there is, just ask for smaller discs and or calipers. No problem. You will reduce a lot of weight if you go that rout but unlikely to improve at all on brake performance and perhaps even degrade it. But it can sure be done.

Not good news for the OE18" wheel guys
Quote:
I've been doing research for a couple of months and the wheels I listed in my thread about this are the only one's I've found, so far. I have inquired of other wheel manufacturers if they could make something, and there is some interested, depending on the demand. Hope that helps (a little). Bob

I really don't think BBKs are needed to run the E92 on the track. All that is needed is a change of brake pads, brake fluid and a brake duct system and you'll be fine. The stock rotors and calipers will work fine.
