Would it be bad to mix these tires with PS2's?
I am running the stock 19" wheels with the 265/35/19 98Y Star PS2's on the back. My front 245 PS2's have about 60% tread left. Can I run the 275/35/19 PSS's on the back with the current PS2's on the front? Do you think it would rub with no spacers and dropped on H&R sport springs? Thanks for the help! The tires definitely look more square. I'm liking the price and the good reviews. |

I can't imagine it should be much different from the set up that I am running at the moment with no issues whatsoever.... OEM sized PS2s on the front and OEM sized 265/35/19 98Y PSSs on the rear on stock 19" wheels.

You could always try just changing the rears and see how it goes...I'm really liking the mix of PS2s front and PSS rear...the car feels way better balanced with the extra rear grip. If you don't like it then you could swop out the fronts as well.

Just ordered the 255F/275R set. Got them for $1400 out the door from Discount then I got the 70 dollar rebate too...not a bad deal I don't think. They will be put on tomorrow. I can't wait!

I had a set of 255/35/19 front, 275/35/19 rear PSS mounted this morning. I switched from a very dead set of stock size RE11s. The RE11s were great and lasted me 22k miles, which was much more than I expected.
I've only driven a few miles on the PSS so far, but overall I am happy and they are what I expected. They are quieter and more compliant (less harsh) on the road than the RE11s. much of this is likely due to a much softer side wall on the PSS vs the RE11. With both tires unmounted side by side it was very obvious. You could easily deflect the PSS side wall by hand and the RE11 was very stiff and wouldn't flex. I assume this is part of the reason the PSS is so much lighter than the RE11. As a result of the softer side wall, turn-in is not as sharp and responsive as it was with the RE11. Once the PSS loads up though it does seem to grip well, but they need to wear in a bit before I can really push them. I'll do a few autos laps in a couple weeks and report back after. I mounted the PSS on stock size wheels, and they fit very well. I was a bit concerned they'd look a little big due to the slightly taller height, but they don't. I posted some pics of both the RE11s and PSS at the below link. One interesting thing was that the main grooves on the 255 were much wider than they are on the 275. One pic shows them both side-by-side where it is very obvious.

Also had 255/35/19 front & 275/35/19 rear PSS mounted earlier this afternoon (Friday). Car is stock ZCP. Replaced OE PS2s, which have just enough tread left for end-of-lease return.
PSS looks better with its more squared shoulder. Drove about 40 miles on the freeway tonight, and the ride is much more smoother. Didn't get a chance to push the tires hard, but will over the coming days. Got track day coming up at Buttonwillow on the 9th. Will post impressions, and will try to post picts. In addition to the Michelin's mail-in rebate, saved a few $$ due to California's sales tax decreasing by 1% today.

Well tires are on, thankfully they didn't scratch my wheels. Unfortunately I got crapped on by a seagull in the parking lot. Most of it was on the windshield but there was a glob on the a pillar and some splashes on the hood. All left etching =(. Damn I hate birds! I will post my thoughts on the tires as soon as I drive more then a mile on them.

Just had my first track day today with the PSS tires, 275/35-18 all around. The tires did very well. I have not had a set of PS2s in a while, so I can't offer a direct comparison. It was very hot, and towards the end of each session the tires lost some grip. This was probably partly my fault, as the rising temperature got the pressures up quickly, although I was bleeding off air all day. I think around 38 psi hot is a good starting target. My car is stock, and I thought the handling balance was very good. An experienced driver will want to turn off DSC, since the square setup will encourage premature intervention. The car was a little loose a few times when I pushed it past the limit. But it was predictable and easy to correct.
(Update edit) Finished my second track day, and the tires did well again. I think 38 is a good pressure. It was very hot (mid 90's), and the tires continued to get a little greasy toward the end of a session, but I don't consider that a criticism of a street tire under demanding track conditions. I put the OE wheels and 245/265 Conti tires on today when cleaning up. The smaller OE sizes are more pleasant in general street driving, and I will probably use the 275 square setup for track only. I'm going with 275/30/19s and 295/30/19s on 19X10 and 19X11 with the PSS's. Can't wait...

Well I am disappointed to report both the 15mm and 12mm spacers caused the 255/35/19 PSS to rub up front on my 220M wheels. I'm not even sure if a 10mm will work up front, looks like I am going to have to lose the spacers all together.

Where are you rubbing exactly on the front? I have run 15, 12 and currently settled on 10mm fronts based on asethics/stance, not rubbing. I had one initial rub at 3 o'clock in the center of the fender liner due to the increased diameter of the wheel. That rub went away and it's fine now. Keep in mind my ZCP's are 9" wide.
