Best convertible under 40k that's not a E93 M3 or Boxster

The only requirements are that it must be an automatic or dual clutch trans and under $40k. I think the E93 M3 and Boxster are the top choices but maybe I'm missing another contender.

I was thinking about the new gen Z4 35is but it weighs almost 3600lbs. No longer the lightweight like the previous Z4.

370z. Mustang. Possibly Miata, but a bit underpowered. S2000 if you don't mind used. Used Corvette.

There is really only one choice:

427 A/C Cobra.

I am not mindful of your "requirements."

I always liked them. I need a low key daily driver so this doesn't really fit too well, haha. After looking around I didn't know that the 370Z roadsters are being so heavily discounted. Msrp on them are 42k-47k and they are selling for over 10k off msrp for a new one. Tempting but i'm not sure I will like as much as a M3 over the long run. The Miata will be great but if I get an auto that may suck some of the fun out of it. Mustang fits my requirements and would be fun but to get it under 40k I would need to get a used one with a solid rear axle. I'm not sure how comfortable the vette would be for a daily driver.

I miss the V8 sound after selling my E39 M5. The E93 M3 is on top of the list if I go convertible or a C63 if I want a sedan. Both sound great and have a decent trans.

The new Miata. I am seriously falling in love with it. I miss having a car that I can just go flat out in corners and completely drive the shit out of every single day.

But of course not as your only car.

Get the 370Z only if you get the manual. The automatic is not that fun.

If automatic, I'd also consider a CPO Z435i.

Plenty of '15 Mustang GT Premium packs on Autotrader right now for under 40k with less than 5k miles. If that's the answer, go for it.

I have a E93 and its great for what it is .

Boxter would be slower even with PDK and more expesive to make a good exhaust.
I didnt fit in a Cayman ,R8 and in the M3 is just perfect, drive like a boss.

Not sure that's right. I believe the curb weights for the E89 35i was in the 3400 range. Drop in some down pipes, coilovers, some Apex Arc-8s, and maybe a lighter battery and you'd be ~3300 lbs.
