And yea, once a rod or main bearing failure happens it trashes nearly everything, metal particles go ever where.

Ben Lovrien - bought the car in 2025 with failed engine, 2011 M3, 39.4k miles, USA AZ, failed in late 2018 (stored for 7 years).
Cyls 4 & 8 rod bearings failed, possible oil starvation. Has later tin/alu/copper bearings (as expected for year). -
