As far as the transmission, have the GTS software uploaded. You can do it yourself but some people insist on paying vendors to give them slower versions of the software BMW made available for free.
This will make a massive difference.
Your only solution is to get a tune to remove the CEL. Foulers, etc basically don't work. DeleteR doesn't do anything useful.
I suggest you read up on tunes and tuners. I suggest ESS or Evolve or EPIC, but any moment you'll have 36 fanboys come recommending X or Y.
