12mm and 10mm Spacers Rubbing with ZCP

I know there are many posts related to spacers on ZCP, non-ZCP, and custom setups. I have searched. After reading through many posts I came to the conclusion 12mm on the front and 10mm on the back would be a safe bet. Many are running 15/12 without issue. Not so with my ZCP setup. I'm getting a light rubbing in the back and very light rubbing in the front. I'm going to have to pull them off. Bummed.

Which tires do you have? It appears that the Pirelli's are quite a bit wider than the PS2's or the Conti's. There's also speculation that the E90 has less clearance in the rear than the E92. Here's a pretty good reference thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9240003#post9240003

Thanks. I hadn't seen this thread. I do have the Prielli's so perhaps that's the issue. Oh well, I guess it's time to pull the spacers off.

Does anyone know if 5mm spacers are okay? I read somewhere that 10mm may be the minimum. Certainly, an argument could be made that there is barely any point to 5mm spacers, but I was thinking of taking my 10mm from the back, putting on the front, and getting 5mm for the rear.

You should look at the "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Spacers" sticky thread (Post #7). The advice there is not to use 5 mm spacers.

The GT4 M3 uses 5mm and 15mm spacers from factory.

If installed properly, there are no problems using 5mm spacers.

I'm running 12/10 on my e90 ZCP. Guess I better take a look soon.

Depending on how low you are, you can put on even 18/15 spacers on a ZCP car. I'm currently on H&R springs with 15/12 on my ZCP wheels and have no problems.

But like others have stated. The Pirelli's have more square sidewalls so I'd run a 12/10 on those tires.

If the size difference shown in the photo below carries through the range of sizes, the difference in the Pirelli's vs. PS2's is more than just "square " shoulders.

Well, it sounds like 12/10 is working for some, but just a word of warning, it is possible to get rubbing with 12/10. Mine is barely rubbing, but rubbing none-the-less. I think just 2mm less on the front and back and it would be fine. An 8mm spacer would be nice. I guess I'll order a pair of 5mm for the back and move the 10mm to the front. I'm bummed as I liked the stance with 12/10 and think it would look perfect with 15/12.

It totally depends on the tires. I got minor rubbing with 275/35/19 Pilot Super Sports with 12mm rear spacers with ZCP rims. I settled on 5mm rear spacers as 10mm still stuck out too far for my taste with PSS's. The PSS is very meaty. There is no hard fast rule for spacers unless folks report the rim/tire/spacer combination.

I had the same issue--E90 sedan ZCP. Tried 12.5mm Turner spacers all around. Front was okay, but rears rubbed a bit on dips/bumps at speed. Pirelli PZeros. The size difference between the PZeros and Michelins of the "same size" in that picture above is dramatic.

Pirelli's run much wider than the PS2's or Continentals do. That's why you are rubbing.
