Official Release: M3 M Performance Exhaust Announced (Video)

Love the video production. Love the sound. Sad about the price. Bring it down a grand or two and I'd think about it.

Kindof like stock turned up to 11 (better than the Akra slip-on by itself, IMO), but I like the more open sound of some of the <$2k stainless systems better. The materials are definitely a cool feature for any engineer/nerd type, but it's not a damn rocket so rocket materials (and rocket prices) aren't necessary.

That's MSRP. I see they have dealer list price too. it's prob about 20% off of MSRP. If dealers get 30-40% off of list price from BMWNA then they can sell it at $3000 price range.

I plan on thermal coating the canisters and then I'll post up a back-to-back video comparison between it and the Eisenmann Sport. I'll resell whichever I decide not to keep.

The unit arrives here on Wednesday. Then I need to ship it to EAS for thermal coating that week, but won't be able to have it installed until at least two weeks from today. So I may have videos up that weekend (weekend of 3/5). We can meet (you too, Dave) anytime following then.

Yup, I'll post up a video as soon as I finish the install. I wouldn't be surprised if other forum members get to it first, though.

4K for a muffler.. theres a lot better options for that price.

I wouldn't put any thermal coating on inconel youre insulating a material that is designed to be exceptionally resistance to corrosion under extreme thermal conditions.

Do you foresee any negative consequences to it, or do you think it's simply wasted effort?

For what it's worth, BMW thermal coated the prototype version of this exhaust, and I appreciated that look:
