diy exhaust install help

does any one know where to find a quide to removing your stock exhaust and install a new one... i have tried searching but couldn't find it

it is really simple...
1. jack up the car
2. loosen the two clamps holding the connecting pipes to the x-pipes with, I believe is a 17 socket.
3. Loosen the two bolts holding the exhaust up with a 14 socket. There are two on each side of the exhaust. They are a little hard to get to. Look for them and make sure that you have good clearance to loosen it so that you don't bend anything or hit the bumper. On the passenger side there is a ground wire connected to the exhaust with a bolt. loosen that also and push the wire back.
4. There are 4 rubber clamps holding up the exhaust. These are a super PITA!!! to remove:mad0259:. What I did was use some WD-40 to give it some lube then take a pry bar and a flat and went to work removing them. There are two if you look in the mesh in the back holding the exhaust and two a little further up holding up the connecting pipes. Try not to bend the rubber too much as they will start to crack and probably will pop.
5. put back the new exhaust in the exact opposite order.

+1 I did the same, those things are a pain in the ass. I guess there is some special tool they make for them, but if you don't do it all the time it's probably not worth it.

It's a lot easier to unbolt the metal parts to which the rubber clamps are attached. Once they are off the car, very easy to pull out.

I was looking over these instructions and it shows them using some copper anti-seize paste on the bolts and ceramic grease at the connecting pipes. Is it really necessary to use this stuff. Havent heard of others using this stuff when installing other brands of exhausts.

^--- I didn't use it on the bolts, just a little on the connecting pieces and tips so they would slide together nicely

thanks for the responses. any ideas where the ceramic grease can be picked up locally? checked the local autoparts store with no luck.
