RickyBobby,
Just curious but am I reading it correctly from the post above, that even with the stiffer springs you are still experiencing rubbing at a 0.75" drop but not at a stock ride height. I guess I'm curious if the stiffer springs helped with the bottoming out or not at the lowered ride height (0.75").

Thanks,
Royce M
Rubbing was only with the standard Moton springs and .75" drop. NO rubbing at all with my stiffer springs. None. Problem solved for me :D

I drove the car a few times lowered and I raised the car back up to near stock level for one last track day before deciding to up the spring rates. No rubbing at stock height and moton springs but I wanted more roll/platform control for r-comps. James recommendation of 1/2" drop sounds reasonable to me. I've gotten a ton of questions asking how low it will go. I don't really think that that's the point of a kit like this.

I couldn't be happier with what I have ended up with. All of my needs have been met with just a spring change. As James said, you can go crazy with spring rates and not even have to revalve. Even my friends Ohlins needed a revalve just to go up 150# in spring. This kit is very versatile.. Full track report is coming in two weeks.
Glad to hear the high rate springs should do the trick. Given all the new info you guys have provided I'm now planning a setup with higher spring rates than those provided in the base streetsport kit. I plan to corner balance the car at ~0.75" drop and wanted to have the convenience of being able to leave that same setup for driving on the street and track and not have to worry about any rubbing. Sounds like with the higher rate springs that should be doable without any rubbing. Thanks for all the feedback and I look forward to your results.

Thanks,
Royce M

I think if you drop it only 0.5" you should not get any rubbing from the info here, unless you are set on dropping it beyond that.
I was entertaining the idea of going with stiffer springs also with the Motons, but my car is my daily driver.
- If you drop the car very far, the migration on the camber and toe curves are pretty off. Very much not the point of a higher-end kit focused on true performance, not pure cosmetics
- RickyBobby can add here, but unless I lived in NYC, PA, NJ, etc, I am not so sure I have a real problem with the stiffer spring rates. I had planned to swap mine back out because I DO have a strong problem with my E46 with 600/700 and JRZs, but I think it is a matter of the high-speed blowoff control of the Moton and it just isn't so bad.
- The track that RickyBobby is on is likely the best test of rubbing in the country. lateral load combined with compression - not sure where else you see it as much as the Corkscrew. VIR T17 is pretty good (evidenced by the pavement gouges) and I never had the issue at 0.5"
Ricky Bobby...what springs rates are you running?
I spent some time at the track this weekend and got some promising results with my spring rates. The front end however was bouncing pretty badly due to all the air and clunking in my system. Moton took the time to explain in detail why this was happening and said that the recall will fix these issues.
I'm going to hold off on any further coments until I get the revised shocks and some hard proof that my car will not sound like a rattle trap / bouncing yugo.

Haven't talked to them in a few weeks - are they still saying the fix will be available this month?

Thx,

Not that I have anything meaningful to add here, but I always like posting photos. The first photo shows the car after taking a set and before bottoming the suspension. 500/550 with GC giant bars. LSIR can load a suspension.

I just noticed that the bumpstops in the picture of this thread are longer. I wonder when they switched them over to the smaller ones that I have. I'm going to laguna this weekend but the shocks are pretty much toast right now. They're boucing enough to almost make me not want to go and have another frustrating track day.

No idea. Perhaps a prototype. I've asked Lex and he said to just use two Moton bump stops back-to-back.
The MSS1 (http://store.bimmerworld.com/Product1333) is not for E9X M cars at this point, may be at some point.

On the plus side, my Motons will be updated with the final replacement parts tomorrow and I will get them back on the car. This appears to be the final fix for the bleed issue.
