I was informed by a member here that because the DCT is not reprogrammed, it would allow downshifts that go beyond the engine redline since the computer still thinks that you have the OE gear ratio (which means lower engine rpm @ given wheel speed). This could be quite damaging to your engine.

I am not sure that is the case , because in that event Dinan should put up a disclaimer or ask the client to send their ECU for reprogramming . If they do not , then they are looking at a possible law suit .

I have the AA ECU tune , so my rpm limiter is raised by 300 (not that it would make a difference if the LSD had to mess up on downshifts) . So far no one has complained about the LSD doing any damage.

I only know of one user: biglare (PM him, he's helpful)
He has an '09 E90M w/ DCT and the 3.62 DINAN diff.

I have it, I love it!!!!!! On the DCT, cruising at 40 ish when you floor it, the dct downshifts to 2nd, the rpms go to 7-7500k and boing boing boing, the tach bounces off the rev limiter and will NOT shift to third unless you shift manually, even though it is in any D mode. it needs something reprogrammed.
I tried every speed and it only happens on the downshift to 2nd

This seriously would put me off a FD upgrade - if it is going to screw with your DCT software and not operate as expected, it is not worth the slight performance gain you'll get in some situations (and not in others).

I'd put my $$$ elsewhere - not worth it IMHO.

If so, that's retarded. It should be calculating that off of the current gear/rpm and not wheel speed. The difference in RPM from gear to gear will remain the same, regardless of FD. Now, D mode choosing the wrong gear for speed is something else, but letting you manually shift from 5200rpm in 2nd to 8800rpm in 1st shouldn't have anything to do with FD, since 5200 in second is always 8800 in first.
