Anyone seen an M3 "Edition" yet?

According to the press release, "The BMW M3 Edition Models will be entering the market worldwide in July 2009...".

For some reason, I was thinking these were going to be MY2010 models, but MY2010 won't start until September, right? The press release also states "...their production period is limited to just six months." So does this mean that some of them will be MY2009 and some will be MY2010? It seems like it must be, and that's kind of strange.

I really just want to see the Monte Carlo Blue one. I think that's going to look amazing.

After looking at the X5M painted in Monte Carlo blue, I don't think the color is much different than LeMans or Montego. I was hoping for it to be as stunning as in the press release photos, but it really isn't.

They aren't coming to the US. Despite being marketed with a 'Worldwide Release', they meant it more as in, we are going to put these in markets all around the world. Just not the US.

Well, it ain't here in Thailand. But I'd love some pics of the "edition" model.

My dealer wasnt even aware if it until I sent him a copy of the release.

I'm starting to think it might be a bit of a joke from BMW...

I don't think they're selling them in the USA.

I don't see how BMWNA will bring an even more expensive M3 to the USA when they already started offering trunk money to clear up the remaining '09 inventory after deeply cutting its production to begin with.

I think that the best thing that BMWNA did already was to offer European Delivery discount applicable to the M3 and to allow Individual colors orders to be more accessible.

If you want a really special M3 then you do not have to wait for this option.

Oh? When did this happen? Quite exciting news considering I have my client adviser working on this through the various channels for me.

Ahh, I knew about that, but from what I have seen about 99% of all requests are denied at some point through the chain (Dealer > Distribution > BMWNA > AG). Usually because most of the BMWs in the US are leased.

I thought you were saying it had become more open.

It is open, as opposed to how close it was before February; there was not even the mentioning of Individual below a 7-Series before February.

What customers need to understand is that Individual has a current palette of colors available, so not all known Individual colors are going to be available not just because the customer is leasing or not.

But the fact of the matter is that for $5000 you can have your own special edition M3 right now...

In ordering a "special edition", can one get special upholstery and wood trim?

That's too bad they aren't coming to the US. But regardless, according to the press release they are supposed to be appearing sometime, somewhere before the end of next week. Is it gonna happen? Well, I don't know, but if anyone spots one, or even spots an ordering guide that presents the ability to order one, please post.

man, that colour is much nicer on the m3 than in the x5m.

Here you go.. but not worth it as it is only cosmetic change. No performance changes.

Thanks for postig Donbona, but everyone has seen those pics already. They came out with the press release and were posted in the original thread on the topic. I'm looking for pics taken "in the wild", or at least new official pics.

Ok no probs... I will keep a lookout since they are most likely to be out over here soon. Going to my dealership sometime this week so I will ask them.
