If your concern is that your pan was rethreaded with a larger non-factory oil plug, I had success using a time-sert with the stock size when I was in a similar situation where a previous owner did that on my car and it too eventually stripped the threads in the pan. Good luck, as you know a new pan is expensive and its a big job.

The guy before me used like some crazy m16 size bolt. So big that the crush washer sits outside/on top of that inset part. It’s wild and no clue what was going thru his mind. I initially tried to have the time sert done but no luck cause of this.

If you’re in LA, my car was totaled via fire and sitting at Pride Auto in sun valley. You might be able to salvage the oil pan. You can call that shop and ask for Sako to see if his guys think it survived. Just mention the black 4 dr M3 that he recently took in.
