Scratching/Scraping sound | E92 M3

Noticed a new noise over the weekend and can’t seem to pinpoint exactly what it is, my brain keeps thinking it might be the heat shield rubbing the drive shaft. Or the CSB has gone bad. The noise only happens on deceleration and only in drive (can’t hear too well in reverse haven’t been able to go fast enough so it might to it then too) I don’t think it’s a pebble stuck in the between the rotor and shield because I’ve had that happen to me a few times, it happens at all speeds but way more noticeable at lower speeds. The car seems to drive 110% fine I noticed a vibration early today but I’ve been reading so many different things and I’m not sure if my brains just tricking me lol

Hi did you find the culprit? I’ve recently noticed this exact same sound. Recently had the guibo and csb replaced then noticed the sound after a few drives so not even sure if it’s related. Did yours also go away after car warmed up?

Have either of you put your cars up in the air and tried to spin the front wheels?

Depending on the milage it might be a wheel bearing slowly going bad.

Since it is still happening with the car in neutral, I don't think it is a transmission or engine noise, it also seems to sound up front so I don't think it's the diff.

Does it come equally out both sides of the car or does it sound like it’s from one side? When my CSB failed, it sounded “up front” too, compared to anything else. but I could best hear it driving slowly in my neighborhood and hearing the grinding noise reflect off car.

One other question, does the sound still happen when you press on the brakes firmly? Or only coasting?
