Car Wash -> Headlight Condensation (Adaptive Headlight Warning)

Took the car to the wash today - hand wash only - and everything looked fine. Went to my car outside my house about an hour later and saw condensation in the passenger headlight. When I turned the car on, I got a warning to get the adaptive headlights checked.

Should I take the car to service? Thoughts? Any DIY suggestions?

I opened up the hood and checked the seal and the rubber seal seems to be partially melted or at least malleable.

The car is due for routine service soon anyways and I may ask the dealer to replace that seal.

UPDATE 2:

Condensation was totally gone this morning and no error codes when I started the car up. Hoping it is just the seal that needs to be replaced and no modules, bulbs, or electronics were damaged!

Check the top covers of the headlights to make sure they are tight. But high chance your headlight needs to be removed and re-sealed. Do it sooner rather than later as repeated exposure to moisture will damage the headlight electronics eventually and that's a much more costly repair.

That is what I am thinking! Thankfully the electronics all seem to be working properly and the adaptive headlights are working.

I was about a month overdue for routine service, so I scheduled it and I’m going in tomorrow morning for an oil service and I mentioned that the rubber seal likely needs replacing. Hopefully an easy/inexpensive fix since the electronics are working!

Irritating. Had condensarion in my right head light after wash as far as I remember since I bought the car 12 years ago. I open the hatch mentionen and let it dry over night. Fortunately never had anny issues with tge functionality though.

I've never had this happen since I purchased the car (second owner) back in early 2023.

Although when I popped the hood, it did look like there was some wear and tear on the rubber seal. However, I just serviced the car yesterday and the tech said the rubber seal wasn't the problem, there were no issues with the elctronics, so they didn't want to do more work than needed, said to keep an eye on it, but if I got an error code that it might be best to go to an indepdent shop to take a look, since it would be $2k+ going through BMW which even the SA said wouldn't be worth it just for preventative maintenance since everything else seemed to check out fine...

I'll just have to be very careful in the rain and when getting the car washed!
