Hey all,

Okay... I have spent the last 3 hours reading every post going around and now more confused than ever... All I am trying to work out is

What is the best way to mount these seats (coming from a Focus RS) in our E92 chassis?

While I am only 5ft 6, I feel like im sitting 'on' the car rather than 'in' it with our OEM seats, so I'm just looking to

- Sit lower in the car (i hear some combinations are at OEM height or even higher?)
- Manual forward/back adjustment is fine (I have electric at the moment but manual sliders are fine - I'll purchase a set from a low spec e92/e87 etc wreck if needs be)
- Want to sit centered in the car like the OEM seats are (how is sitting offset even a thing you should have to think about??)

With the various brands of adapters and sliders and brackets and buckle mounting hardware, whats just the simplest approach here for it all to 'just work' ?

Also.. Could someone please help explain what the brackets (side and bottom?) are for that we need? Why we need new sliders.. or people buy new sliders? (they bolt to the floor yeah?). Why do recaro make them when we already have them? What is the link that I am missing?

Basically explain it to me like im a 5 year old ..... please :)

Cheers and TIA all!

miles3719's user avatarmiles3719 my experience and take...

Installed Sportster GTs spring 2024 and could not be more satisfied.
  • Sliders - Recaro OE; do not add to seat position height like many other AM sliders
    • Floor mounts - Macht Schnell
  • Fitment - Spot on; 'low' & centered [at 5'10" look & feel "planted in"]
Zero issues with my set-up during install; perfect alignment of seats, sliders, floor mounts.
THE BEST e92 M3 driver mod - - position, look, feel and comfort [spirited & daily].

Hey smokinjoe64's user avatarsmokinjoe64 Thanks for the pics... Could you please explain what you need the floor mounts for? Dont the sliders just bolt into the slider holes we have in our chassis now and then the seat mounts to those?

What mounts where?

Affirmative, Recaro slider models for CS/GT seats can certainly bolt directly to floor.

That said, one feature of MS or any another mount is assistance to dial-in eye line [sight picture thru dash/ windscreen]; proper visibility, position is key since seat height is fixed once installed.

Without the MS mount, I found my eye line a tad too low. MS mount adds ~.9 in which is the 'Goldinglocks" setting for me, plus provides multiple mounting holes for final seat placement. Didn't go with MS seat belt bracket [pictured below], preferred VAC seat belt bracket design since no increase to overall seat height added.

Essentially, it's a matter of personal choice...how low do you go? ;)

Right... I think I get it now.. So the MS mount is just to raise the install height somewhat off the floor if you want. (I am only 5"6 as I say, so likely will need the extra height).

That MS bracket says its for harnesses but are these the things you mean?

YW & good luck...you'll luv'em once installed
I recently fitted a set to me E92 M3 and my solution wa to source a new old stock BMW performance floor mount kit from AMX Performance which made everything super easy.

I made a video of it. It is in Turkish but you can turn on the subtitles.

Solid 'how-to' reference for install...
Has anyone successfully put these in an E90? Since the seatbelt attaches to the seat, how did you go about that?

I used these with the OEM mount adapters:

I was asking for the sedan, since the seatbelt setup is different.

Easy work
All you need is “planted seat brackets” seat bracket for a e90 model
Then you need recaro sliders and seats
And some coding and your done

Just note the planted brackets will make you sit high or oem unlike the ms will put u lower and in a better position

+1
Concur 100%...MS mounts paired w/Recaro sliders, yield a 'lower' seat height for a more motorsport position/feel compared to other selections.

The ms mounts are off centered to steering wheel
It is a double edge sword in my experience. You are limited by the clearance for your seatbelt receptacle. Lower position you are off centered but sitting higher allows you to have more on centered. I end up running Recaro JDM mounts, sits a bit higher but kind of in the middle between OEM seat and MS floor mount/Recaro OE slider

My sentiment...
Technically correct, practically indiscernible especially after 'time in the saddle'.
Take care with MS mount alignment at install.

IMO feels, looks great at least w/Recaro's sliders & GT/CS seats

I'm my e90 I have the recaro mounts which u do sit a bit high on my e92 I have the ms and with a bit of tweaking and adjusting on the seatbelt brakets u can fit it properly.
I believe amx sliders are the lowest in the market
