Ouch.. must've been some rock. So sorry for your bad luck. Good job stopping the engine immediately. Let us know what you find when you get the pan off.
Yeah I’ve had some bad luck lately plus I was sure the car would clear the rock but oh well, the insurance will take care of the repairs, as soon as I get an update on the engine I’ll post again, I’m just hoping it didn’t swallow a chunk of the pan.

Plenum sound review?
Live in Midwest and weather just coming around, so once she's back on the road w/in the next couple weeks I'll circle back and post.

Went for a drive. Man what a blast. Haven’t taken it out for a few months since I started to daily the g80
Looks amazing
Finally replaced the starter today (after literally a week of stop-and-go work). Real PITA job. Gotta love how the starter is at the epicenter of the engine lol. But it's a lot quieter and starts right up now!
I finished up changing the rear passenger wheel bearing and the diff input seal on my newly acquired e90. What a pain, I was for sure thinking I was in over my head and going to break something trying to get the axle loose. It finally popped, but not until the puller foot was all deformed. The outer race was fairly chewed up and making a roaring sound in the cabin. All is quiet and silky smooth now. Next up, rod bearings and the oil filter housing gasket. It's a pre-LCI with 98k on the clock, I'm very interested to see these.
I also installed a used Dinan intake I picked up, it added a noticeable growl to the front of the car. It already had the Dinan rear section and tune so I figured I'd continue the theme.
Oil change, ICV, cabin filters, cleaned air filter...

KOOKS 400 cell cats are in the house.

Out with the crappy 200 cells haha. Next stop later this week, emmissions testing. Pray to to car gods for me!

Took her out yesterday. The “review“ is likely what you’ve read or heard. When you punch the throttle, the engine note transforms to an angry growl, and you essentially hear it sucking air and transmitting it to the cabin. I’ve noticed so far that if you lean into it, any aftermarket exhaust will predominate, but if you step on the gas pedal and go WOT, the induction noise from the Plenum will be centerstage. Love it love it.
Dropped the car off at the shop last week for the axles to be pulled and rebuilt. Got sent this picture this morning after they mentioned one was super loose... Make that one axle is being rebuilt, the other is being completely replaced. No damage to the diff, at least.

Nice! How old is your daughter? Here’s my 14 year old working on the 911. She complained that the spark plug change on our inline 6 was boring “because we didn’t even have to take the wheels off…” 😀

Congrats on the project car and welcome to the forum!

M3RD, you come up with the best topics. Well played sir.

Today I took her "to the limit", it was one of those rare drives back home on a perfectly smooth highway, horizon to horizon (no 5-0) and zero cars back and front. Dropped her into 3rd, and listened to that sweet engine induction sound wail to 8,400! 4th, and again hitting 8,400, and 5th! Scrubbed off some speed and back down to earth at 75 :) Would never do that if there was even one other car around, but like I said, a very rare moment on a normal day. This car is a beast.
There's a vid on here of a guy hitting well over 200mph in his lightly modified NA e92 m3. I don't understand how that's possible with the 390ish whp he presumably had. he just had a tune, intake, raised redline to 8600, primary cat delete, fox high flow exhaust.

Dinan rear. Emmissions testing will be today. Hopefully passing.
Alright. Third attempt at CO emissions and passed! Now onto registering the car and getting a vanity plate!!

1st attempt: failed on all three. Simply got to car from TX and then just filled it with 91 fuel.

2nd attempt: New plugs, injectors, and cleaned AEM dry filter. Failed on HC and NOx

3rd attempt: New KOOKS Green cats to replace the 200 CPU’s Magnaflow that come on the ESS X-pipe. PASSED!!

HC was on the limit but I suspect it’s the loaded ESS tune on it. I will be switching that tune in due time.
