I have posted a bit in this thread too:

cic constantly reboots after nav update

Just thought I would also post in the M3 forum as to not totally thread jack...

So yeah, the 2023 map update did not complete properly - first time this has been an issue for me. Car took a long time to prompt to update the maps and like an idiot, I still said yes. Seemed to be loading fine but it did not continue loading after shutting off my car and the "Starting Navigation" was showing on the screen for a while.

So, I reset the CIC (pressed the power button for 30 seconds) and it booted back up but within a second or two of booting, the Navigation menu item turns to greyed out. Also, it says "Function not available" if I press the NAV button on the centre controller.

I did some reading and one member suggested that using Tool 32 can remove all the bad map files. I did so and got an OKAY status from the Tool 32 command. Also, my CIC is showing as "CIC Hard Disk, Map Material Not Available" so this seems like confirmation that the maps are gone.

Problem is - the Navigation menu item is still greyed out. I am not sure what I need to do to get the maps back. Did the Tool 32 remove my FSC code? Is there some process I need to follow to get the Maos to load onto a blank system?

Anyway, thanks ever so much for any help that I can get.

Cheers,

I think there's a 2021 or 2022 North America Premium available out there. I would try that next.

Regenerate your FSC with Jaeger's FSC generator.
CIC/NBT FSC Generator - Windows/Linux/OSX
Were you able to figure this out?

Not yet.
Have you tried just putting the navagation data USB in again and see if it continues the update?

I've had issues in the past where it hit some sort of error during the update, and resulted in the symptom you described.

I just restarted the car, and then put the update USB back in, and the system continued the update and came out fine.
Just pull the 1B File, generate FSC Code, plug in the USB in glove box for Map Update and enter the Code.

Yeah, not so much. :)
Hello,

I ran into the same problem but my nav went grey during an fsc extended procedure for xm sat 6F. The issue happened when i changed to 0x01b following a pdf tutorial as i was testing things out. after recoding one the headunit or related module the nav when useless. The strange thing is that when i check FSC status it all looks normal but cant get anything to work. Tried using the maps update by usb but nothing pops up. I'm in desperate need of help.
Im also in the same boat, i had to replace my cic with a junkyard unit, got it coded and audio worked again, but navi was still greyed out. It doesnt ask for a FSC or anything, and wont accept a map update.
