Would it be worth taking it apart and seeing the condition of the pump? Or are these not an issue for this engine?

Just was curious as I watched Sreten take it apart on his S85 and he found it to be damaged.

Thanks
I've not heard of S65 oil pumps to be an issue unless you've had bearing failure and some metal has been run thru the oil pump.

Thanks, yeah I haven't seen anyone talk about it before. Only one person I have found so far that had replaced when doing the RBs

Think ill leave it alone.
These oil pumps seem bulletproof. Even engines that have suffered bearing failure and have a lot of swarf in them have serviceable oil pumps if you clean out the residual debris. Most that we've disassembled and refurbished have only minor scuffing on their rotors and end caps. There's rarely a need to replace one.

The S85 is a bit of a different animal.

Thank you!

Just don't forget; if you remove the pumps, there is a backlash you need to adjust on the scavenger pump. Just my $0.02.

Bulletproof indeed. I had my RB done a few years ago and my technicians found this:

The primary oil pump was clogged with dried silicone sealant. Not a single sign of oil starvation. Apparently, someone had dropped the oil pan (not to replace the RB as they were the originals) and when the reinstalled it, used silicone as a gasket...ugh.

Must've been done by a Subaru engineer. 😂

LOL. Not a Subaru fan anyway.....I was SOOOO happy I had the bearings replaced when I did, for this reason, I think I was around 68k miles when they found this. I bought it with 58k in 2019 so it was done before that. I need to clean off the grime under there. I think the previous owners lived on a gravel or dirt road....I swear.
