Musway Undersest Subwoofer

I finally got around to install my Musway CSB8W underseat subwoofer replacements. I completely underestimated how easy this install was. Total time spent was 42 minutes. You will not have to fully remove seats, only the 4 bolts fastening it down. Remove protective cover and unplug sub. The difference these subs makes is pretty extreme. The stock subs are all but useless as they stand and act as mids. Musway takes these to another level and transform bass without having to amplify and run cables. Very excited to revisit songs.

What do these weigh compared to OEM Individual Audio subs?

No, I have stock head unit and stock amplifier. Factory subs produce 70W as opposed to Musways 300W. When I decide to amplify the system I’ll be doing the D8 DSP amplifier. It’s a fair amount of work so won’t have my guys hop on it until the shops slow.

But you're not just advocating for them, you're selling them and offering discounts to members.

I have the BavSound setup. I suspect BavSound, Bimmertech, AF Match, and Musway are all good quality and a nice improvement over base HiFi, which sucks. But there's only so much improvement you can get with the footprint and speaker locations we have.
I don't think any of this is a hardware upgrade for the IA/EPS upgraded audio systems, other than maybe the subwoofers.

I'm not knocking Musway in any way. I know nothing about them and hadn't even heard of them before your posts. Some of their components (and text) look a lot like the AF Match stuff, but other than that I have no opinion. Just pointing out that you're threading a fine needle between advocacy and salesmanship.

I can’t argue with that at all. I do come off rather “salesy” I also do agree. A lot of the factory replacement stuff is basically all the same. As far as two brands I actively sell and push from experience it’s Bavsound and Musway.

I thought hifi and eps have the same subwoofers, no? OP are you just running subs or amp upgrade too? Also, if upgrading the rear speakers to components, how's the wiring work? I have a E92 with hifi and was thinking of doing amp and speakers. Maybe just the front speakers if I need to run wiring for the back sides.

As of now I’m only running the subs off of the factory amplifier. I have individual audio so I have two coaxial speakers on my rear deck. Wires remain the same, no need to cut or splice.

Yeah I have hifi so no speakers on rear deck. Just mid/tweeters up front and mid on the rear sides with subs. Can I run that coaxal on the rear sides to get a tweeter and upgrade the amp? And just a set of components up front? Would that work properly?

Yeah you would ideally run a component pair in your front doors (mid / tweeter) a coaxial set on your rear section, and two under seat subs. You’ll get good sound as it stands. And fortunately you have less channels so if you want to run the tweeters independently per channel you’ll need an 8 channel amp. You’ll get serious sound improvement as far as volume is concerned.

They sell at $899 a set. Now I don’t want to sound as if I’m encouraging a sale but I don’t mind saving somone some money. Especially if it’s something you’re considering already. Let me know and I can provide more information on the best route to take. Completely up to you 👍

So you have individual audio which I thought was the same as EPS. Shouldn’t your resistance be closer to 8 Ohm for the subs?

Please nobody follow this installation. There is some very rude words that would fit here, but I am not gonna use them. Lets just make it very clear that OP is clueless and replaced individual audio woofers with musway woofers. While musway woofers are great, they are nothing compared to individual audio woofers. Musway woofers got a generic 2 inch voice coil, just like all bmw aftermarket underseat woofers. The individual audio woofer got a massive 3 inch voice coil, bigger magnet, more xmax, etc… This is a textbook downgrade. Now why is OP saying that the sound improved? Because the musway woofers are 2 ohm instead of individual audio 8 ohm. This means the woofers are overdriving the amplifier and pulling more watts. That also means the amplifier is not going to last long. I came here to write this so nobody else would make the same mistakes.

Agreed.

The 2 ohm will sound "louder" than the 8 ohm and will drive the amp harder since there is less impedance. But just because the speaker can handle more watts doesn't directly correlate to the quality sounding better.

These are also egregiously expensive in my opinion.
