Hi guys,
The dreaded high pressure hose got under my clear coat today

Anyone had theirs repaired in Melbourne? Recommendations? Approximate Cost?

Could a body shop not repair it ?
Many wont touch it because it's carbon as opposed to a regular panel.
BMW Bodyshop in Bundoora said they'd most likely replace the whole roof

Just use a air compressor with a blower attachment to remove the gel coat or use a pressure washer. Wash the carbon fiber and take it to a body shop of your choice. Mine was 450ish with 4 coats of clear.

What did they charge in the end?
Paid $1700 , they flow coated it. Cheapest quote I got from another shop was $1000( no flow coat) and most expensive was $4000, happy to have paid in the mid range

Hey bro,

Just asking if you found a bodyshop to do your carbon roof in Melbourne?

I need one as well
Cheers,
Matthew
Hey mate,
I had some quotes similar to sct911 above, and even had recommendation to replace to whole roof at $30k.
I didn't really trust any of the options I got, and didnt really get any recommendations from anyone, and seeing it was going to be an Insurance job out of my pocket I didnt go through with it.
In the end I got a $15 resin repair kit and touched it up. Happy how it turned out for now.
Im sure other areas will pop up in the future, so if/when it happens again I'll address the issue then.
Hi

Sorry to drag up an old post but I have a failing carbon roof in Melbourne too and am struggling to find anyone to do it for a reasonable price.

Has anyone had their roof repaired in Melbourne and not paid a small fortune for it to be done. I believe the resin needs to be removed or sanded and then many clear coats applied with sanding every 2nd coat.

I would like to go to a place thats had experince carrying out this repair previously.

TIA
