I was going to make a poll but too hard to think of what the choices would be.

So just to kill some time and maybe it will help other people if they have not placed the order yet.

--

Just to sum up. The M3 is a great car etc. but the options add up.

I got:

-Coupe (I see this as an option since it's $2700 more than the sedan guess you could call it the CF roof option)
-Technology package
-Premium package (black leather with CF leather)
-M-DCT
-Premium audio
-Ipod
-Sat radio
-metalic paint

-->> just under $70K (with GG tax)

so I had to cut (didn't have to but left off):

-19" wheels
-heated seats
-PDC (didn't think I need it)
-extended leather (have black leather so I don't know if this matters)

--

So for me the big things I could have or should have got was 19" and heated seats. But I don't use heated seats a lot. I guess they are OK but to me spending $500 not worth it since the car is already almost $70K.

if I had it to do over would get the 19" wheels. I was really coming up to the point where I was saying gees do I really want a $71K 3-series car? And I cut the car to just under $70K maybe a psycological barrier for me instead 0of just over $70K.

Probably doesn't make any difference but already I said I was getting ~$14K in options (counting coupe as an option).
I got
- E92
- AW
- ZTP
- ZPP
- MDCT
- 19"
- MRoof
- PDC
- Heated Seat (OH weather)

Still on the fence for MT or DCT ($2700 question)
No need for Premium Sound etc. I seldon listen and if I do I just play it soft (smooth jazz). I currently have the Premium sound in my current E92335 and that is the case now. Just the MT/DCT?
heres Mid-Atlantic local Poll if it helps any..

theres alot of noise about DCT and really in my short list. But for Fun and better after-warranty selling Im going with the 6MT
When your looking at 70K+ car 1-2K is not a huge change in price for your monthly payments when your financing it over the years. Also if one chooses to pay it out right then those few thousands shouldn't make a difference if you have that much cash to shell out. Just my opinion.

Me I just wanted it all so I wouldn't have any regrets.

My coupe came to just over $68K with Premium, Tech, heated, iPod, Premium Sound, 19s. The things I did without, and have no change of opinion now, are Sirius, rear shade, metallic paint, extended & PDC. It's under $70k and there's nothing I miss. The only thing I MIGHT change (but was not available then) is to get DCT, but it wiould still be a close call. The only reason would be to try something new, not because I don't like the manual.

The extended leather is a waste of money if you're getting black interior. Although, in person it's closer to charcoal.

The 18s looks incredible in person. Not sure why they don't photograph well. So, you could save $1900 right there.

IMO, the 18s look as good at the 19s... and if you want something that looks a bit more mean, the 18s would be my pick. They're very menacing.

But as noted above, 4-5K spread over 48 months isn't a big deal.
Totally agree about the wheels
Well I wish I didnt have to get EDC but I want Mdrive and Comfort Access....oh well

Jason
I got:

E92 sparkiling graphite
Reg Fox Red
19"
heated seats
EDC
iPod
Satellite radio
Digital radio
carbon leather trim

Out the door price (taxes, title, Everything) was $67,000. If I did it again I would not get EDC as there is not a big difference between settings, so price would have been $66,000,

Dan
i wish i Just get the front heated seat INSTEAD of COLD WEATHER PACKAGE...

that ski bad and ski hole is totally useless... its not like the hole is big enough to fit my snowboard/wakeboard. sigh

?

Not asking what options people got or that would be the title.

I'm asking if you got any options you don't like or if you didn't get an option you wish you had.
I think you shouldn't get the car.

I first started to economize, but in the end saved only by having heated seats without the cold weather package, no rear sunshade, no PDC (had this on 2 previous car and it annoyed me), and no metallic paint. I always regret more not getting an option I later want than getting something maybe I don't really need. I do not have an i-pod but felt it should be in the car. I have never experienced HD radio but it is not expensive. I love Sirius. Hopefully I will keep this car for a while, so the cost can be amatorized (sp?) over time.

x2

Exactly. Having regrets for paying for PDC, rear shade, etc... means you shouldn't have had the car.

70k for a car is a LOT OF MONEY. A lot of fuel, a lot of insurance, etc...
So paying 350 more for the rear shade you are not using shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe if you are single and have no kids or mayor obligations with others..... that may be a different story.

NOW, if you have regrets of having the full car for that kind of money, then its something more understandable.
PDC is worthless and makes the bumpers look ugly, rear shade is pointless, HD Sirius readio is pointless since I never listen to the radio. so those were easy to "cut". i also skipped on the premium sound. i think stock sound will be fine and i if i feel that i need more, there are tons of aftermarket options i have.

Amen.
I'm still waiting for my car... I was thinking of adding the rear shade but I think the novelty of it would wear off. I really can't find a purpose of a rear shade if your going to tint the car. I'm also thinking of getting the HD radio option, but I've never listened to HD so I don't even know if I'm missing out on anything with not having that option.

Would love to hear why

I concur...the options you left off are really $10-30 month extra if your financing the car. Otherwise it's not alot given the total price of the car. Now when you think or analyze $70k PLUS for a 3 series yeah I think you have a point there. Lots of other cars with same performance for $$. Especially if you are one who considers CPO vehicles or non selling new ones. At that price point a 997S or 997 base CPO comes to mind or even a new 2007 M5 as they are to be found with few miles on the odometer new and CPO.

Anyway if it makes you feel better my car is being built in the next 2 weeks and has the following: 6sp manual, premium sound, mettalic paint, carbon fiber, sat radio, tech package, heated seats, and premium package. Only difference is with military sales my cost was $60700 with inport duty included. Just need to pay registration and hopefuly NOT sales tax and I am done. A significant savings from you guys but still I didn't get 19" wheels or DCT as I am a manual driver (and love it!) and as I'll likely replace the stock 18" with summer tires in 19" no need to get 19" wheels I won't use again. 18" is better anyway for winter tire use which is what I'll do an have a pair of Blizzaks mounted at that time.

Anyway good luck.

Same....got heated seat and decided to forgo the front washers (retractable), heated seats, and ski hole! :)
+1

the only useful thing on ZCW are the heated seats, the others are a waste for me
I can use the savings for a distance parking.
